"I'm not too sure that Bella's going to feel beyond thrilled about a birthday party being held for her," I said with uncertainty as Alice kept her eyes on the road.
"She won't at first, though I can see that she'll enjoy it once tonight comes," Alice declared, turning the steering wheel right onto the main road that led to the school. "Besides, you're only eighteen once after all."
"Well, technically you've been nineteen years old since the early nineteen hundreds." I pointed out.
"That's different." She responded, as I laughed.
We arrived at the familiar parking lot of Forks High School, where Alice parked Willow's car in its usual designated spot beside Rosalie's ruby-red Convertible.
She came to my side of the car to get my door for me, while also opening the back door behind mine to grab a rectangular sage green wrapped box with a ribbon tied around it — an offering Bella would likely be opposed to at first glance.
Alice locked the car as we both walked side by side into the school — the buoyant movement in her balletic steps and the eager look in her amber-toned eyes expressed pure excitement, which admittedly made my heart flutter.
We walked through one of the long hallways of the school, until Alice spotted Bella from afar, who had none other than Edward closely glued to her side.
"Bella!" Alice exclaimed, skipping over to her as I tried to match her pace following behind.
"Happy birthday!" Alice's high-pitched, joyous voice chimed while leaning in to hug Bella.
"Shh!" Bella hissed, hugging her back as she quickly glanced around, likely making sure no passing students heard her.
"Sorry!" Alice said under her breath, pulling away from Bella's embrace.
"Am I allowed to tell you happy birthday as well?" I asked wearily through a grin, keeping my voice down.
"I suppose you have my permission," she lightly scoffed, as I leaned in to hug her. "Thanks."
After I unlocked my arms from around Bella, Alice held out the gift she got for her. Just as expected, her expression dropped with guilt.
"I thought I said no presents." Bella protested with a sigh as she hesitantly took the box from Alice's grasp.
"Well, I've already seen you open it, and guess what? You love it." Alice beamed, as Bella softly grinned. "And you're going to wear it tonight at our place!"
"For what?" Bella asked warily.
"For your birthday party, of course," Alice answered. "You didn't think we'd ignore your birthday like that, did you?"
