Verglas heard a quiet scraping noise early the next day. Could it be Clay and Tsunami? They pricked their ears, and heard what sounded like Sunny and Starlight running towards the entrance boulder. Verglas got up and woke Peril, gesturing to stay silent and follow them. Creeping through the dark cave tunnels, the two came into the entrance cave and saw Clay and Tsunami, breathing heavily but unharmed, standing there, with Starflight and Sunny standing next to them. The guardians were still asleep or hunting... or looking for Clay and Tsunami. "Where's Peril and Verglas?" she heard Tsunami say, sounding genuinely worried, which surprised Verglas.

"Right here," Verglas whispered as the two dragonets entered the cave, "Are you sure you weren't followed?"

"We double and triple-checked. No dragons in sight," Tsunami replied, "I'm so glad Kestrel didn't hurt any of you! I thought she'd take her anger out on you all!" She pulled Sunny and Starflight into a hug and gave Verglas and Peril a loving glance, much to their surprise, that said, very clearly, If I could hug you, I would, I promise.

Suddenly, their reunion was interrupted by a snide, mocking voice coming from the entrance boulder. "Well, well, well. What are you five doing under MY mountains?"

The dragonets whirled around to see a beautiful orange Skywing striding towards them, adorned with jewellery and flanked by at least ten other Skywing guards. Her tail had a large, ugly gash at the tip, blood trickling from the wound. "And what a strange group of dragonets as well. A MudWing, a SeaWing, a NightWing, an IceWing, a SkyWing, and, oh my, I have no idea what tribe you are, tiny dragon, perhaps a SandWing? This has nothing to do with a certain... prophecy, does it?"

"How did you follow us here?" Tsunami asked, furious. Verglas looked at the SeaWing curiously. How could they have met before?

"Oh, I didn't have to follow you. Someone sent up a lovely, helpful smoke signal. How generous," the regal SkyWing replied with a smug smile.

"What is going on here?" Dune ran in, followed by Webs. Dune charged towards the orange dragon yelling, "Don't touch them! They're the prophecy dragonets! The Dragonets of Destiny! Webs, don't just stand there cowering! Come here and help!" Webs ran and stood protectively in front of the dragonets, his huge blue wings blocking access to them.

"Ooh, Kestrel's here? What a thrilling reunion this will be!" Scarlet turned her head back towards Dune and slammed him to the ground just as he was launching himself at her. In one swift movement, she tore at his stump leg, reopening the old scar, and Dune howled with pain as blood poured from the wound. She ripped through his wings, swiftly tearing the membranes and ruining his other wing as Dune shrieked and flailed under the SkyWing's claws. Her orange talons were coated in thick scarlet blood from Dune's wounds. Scarlet. This was Queen Scarlet, queen of the SkyWings and the most feared queen in Pyrrhia, except for Blister and Burn, the two eldest SandWing princesses. Scarlet gazed down at Dune, smirking triumphantly at his mangled body.

"As for you, useless SandWing, why would anyone want a dragon who can't fly? You know what, I'll put you out of your misery. Thank me when you're dead," she said.

And before anyone could speak, or breathe, or realize what was happening, she snapped Dune's neck as he roared his agony to the sky and collapsed under Scarlet's talons, dead.
