"Riley Baby, it's just a nasty cold," Ringo told me before he left for a hard day's photo shoot.
"Darling, you're absolutely positive?"
"Of course! Do you want to come with me to be sure that I'm sure?"
"You know it!" I cheered giving him a tight hug.
A couple hours had passed by in the photo shoot when Ritchie passed out on the floor.
"Oh, Darling!" I sobbed into his chest, holding his hand tight.
"Riley, Honey, it's okay! He's just, uh, dehydrated," Paul hushed.
"No, he's not! Somebody, call a doctor!"
Understanding my concern, John rushed to the phone and called the nearest emergency room.
"Is he gonna be okay?" I asked one of the ambulance workers.
"Don't worry, Miss, he's in good hands."
"I'm sorry, but that's not what I asked. I asked if he's gonna live or not."
"Riley, they can't tell you," John replied.
"You mean he could, die?" I gasped.
"Well, it depends on what he has."
"Oh my God," I whispered into his chest. It don't come easy finding out your boyfriend could potentially pass away, so I appreciated John's patience with me.
"Hey, hey, Lee, he's a very strong boy. Remember when he was six?"
"Yeah."
"Also, keep this in mind, the doctors and nurses are gonna be taking very good care of him."
"Right."
When we arrived at the hospital, Ritchie was awake.
"Where am I?"
"Oh, honey pie! You're awake!" I grinned, John had to hold my arms to keep me from lunging onto him.
"What happened?"
"You passed out during the photo shoot, so now, you're at the ER."
"ER? Get me outta here, Goddammit! I wanna go home. It's just a bad cold!"
"Richard, I hate to tell you, but you actually have Tonsillitis," the doctor piped up.
"Oh, I understand."
Much to my disapproval, I was sent home without my sweetheart. But, a few days after his surgery, I got to see him again.
"Riley!"
"Ritchie! How do ya feel?"
"A lot better now that you're here."
"I bet. Y'know, the bed felt a little empty without you."
"Mine felt pretty empty to. And by the way, don't ever let me complain about dinner ever again."
"What do you mean?"
"The food here tastes like shit!"
"Really?"
"Yep! I love your looks, your cooking, and everything else about you."
"Aw, you're too sweet!" I replied, giving him a kiss.
"I've missed your kisses to."
"As did I."
"Are ya tired?"
"Always am."
So, I got undressed and under the covers, cuddling up to my lover's warm body.
"Did I mention that I missed you being close to me at night?" he purred, his finger tracing circles on my belly.
"No, but I've missed the way you hug me and kiss me."
"I've missed the way you sing when you're alone."
"I miss your smile when I come home from work."
"I've missed you."
"Do you know what I missed most of all?" he asked in a voice deeper than I had ever heard.
"No."
"Most of all, I missed the way you sing when you cook and clean. You have the voice of an angelic choir."
"Jeez, I didn't even know you were listening."
"Riley, can I ask you something?" he asked, pulling out a black box.
"Yes."
"Riley, you're the most beautiful girl I have ever set my eyes on, and I love you with all my heart. Will you marry me?"
"I will."
