The next morning, Jasmine and I were snuggled up together in a small pile. We would usually do this when we would share same bed or in a cave. There was obviously no bed for us to be in so we had to make do with keeping warm with our own body heat. Even Fireclaw was sleeping peacefully on top of Jasmine, leaving her in the middle with me on the bottom. Jasmine was quite heavy and with Fireclaw's added weight and the coldness of the cave floor, I turned into a wolf to have extra warmth and so I could handle the weight of both of them.

I awoke with Jasmine snoring in my ear. I would probably lose my hearing someday for her snoring in my ear. But instead of scolding her, I lifted up my head to lick her on her face.

A smile crept up her face as she felt me. She hummed dreamily before opening her eyes to look at me. "Emi wolf! Emi wolf!" She said as she reached forward to touch my face. I nuzzled her hand as she petted my fur and she let out a laugh of happiness.

"Shh! Jazy! You'll wake the others!" I scolded gently. Jasmine whined with disappointment but rubbed my head with hers anyways.

We nuzzled each other until one of the others woke up. Alice woke up before Lily and came over from her side of the cave to join us.

"Ali!" Jasmine cried with delight when she saw Alice.

Alice jerked back in surprise when she heard Jasmine give her a nickname. "Hey, Jasmine," Alice said, smiling a little.

Jasmine made Fireclaw get up from the sibling pile so she could greet Alice. I also got up onto all fours and turned back into my human form. I snapped my fingers, making clothes appear on my body. I crossed my arms and watched as Jasmine hugged Alice. Jasmine wasn't usually fond of other people but I guess since the events from the castle, any human who was familiar to Jasmine, she wanted to get close to. I didn't really mind as long as they didn't try to hurt her.

"Hey Emily," Alice said to me once she was done interacting with Jasmine. "I made contact with the Alpha King. He should be here at any moment to help with your plan."

"Daddy?" Jasmine asked, perking her head up with interest. "We see Daddy?" But I wasn't as excited as Jasmine.

I growled and turned away from Alice, pouting. I didn't even want to be near that son of a bitch who ruined my plan of getting Mommy! He was the reason why Mommy's dead! If it weren't for him, I would've gotten to Mommy sooner and save her! I don't care if he is Jasmine's father. I wanted to stay as far away from him as possible.

"What's wrong?" Alice questioned. "The Alpha King is the only magical creature who has turned against the royal family! He can help us!"

"No!" I snapped, turning on Alice. "We can't trust him! He's the reason Mommy's dead!"

"I don't understand," Alice said softly.

"Mommy dead?" Jasmine asked weakly, her voice cracking with pain. "Mommy no here no more? Mommy gone forever?" She whimpered.

This was what I was afraid of; Jasmine losing control over the truth of Mommy never coming back. I didn't want her to throw a tantrum and sit and wait for Mommy when I knew she would never return. I didn't want Jasmine to be like that so I did the next best and awful thing; I lied to her.

"No," I told her, standing in front of her. "Mommy not gone forever. She's just not with us right now. But one day we'll see her again, I promise."

"Emi and Jazy see Mommy again?" Jasmine asked hopefully.

I nodded. "Yes," I said, a knot of pain threatening to overwhelm me but I pushed it back. The heavy lie overruling the truth. "Yes we will. But first we need to find her."
