Cresent moon decorates the night sky with the brightest star of all; the south star. The cold breeze from the base of the mountain blows around Claire's room, chilling her warm heart from one risky phrase she wanted to utter. I have a confession to make. Before she knew it, she uttered one thought after another.
"The first time I heard your voice, my heart skipped a beat. I knew then I felt something special for you. Then slowly we got to know each other. We love cats. We both are the Earth zodiac signs. Even our blood type is A! We are not smokers. None of us has tattoos on our bodies. Our sibling and us have a huge age gap. Yours is 8 years gap while mine is 7. We went through the same unfortunate case. You understood me very well. And of course, our favorite couple is the same in this cartoon series. Not to mention whenever you introduced a new game to me, you taught me how to play patiently in that soothing calm voice of yours. You are perfect!" She wrote.
She does not know what would happen if she told Averus her pilled of thoughts. But, she does know that she would regret it if she did not say anything. She then takes a deep breath before her thumb lands on the phone's keyboard.
"I'm in love with you, Averus."
Seven words; twenty-one letters revealed her feelings she kept to herself for a while. There was no fear of rejection in what she uttered. All she could care about was the fact that her heart was determined to make Averus the last man she would fall for, for the rest of her life. No more. She could not care less if he did not feel the same way. She understood completely if he did not feel the same way towards her. She could think of her flaws in every possible way.
I'm ugly, emotional, impatient, short, and for Pete's sake, my breasts are flat! I'm not saying all those things carelessly to get empathy but my friends have always been calling me those.
Before her mind tore her self-esteem down even further, Averus' response stopped her. "Oh, wow. This is the first time someone confessed to me online."
Red. One word describing her face perfectly the moment she read what he wrote. Conflicted with which is best to respond to him, Averus wrote a follow-up answer.
"I am flattered. Thank you so much for your kind words. You are a very bright beautiful woman. You always know exactly which words I was trying to say. You're obedient, cute, easy to be around, and understanding." was written next to his name in the chat panel, and ended with
"I love you too Claire."
Her heart instantly leaps as high as the sky. Knowing her feelings got reciprocated by the man she loves, life seems ten times brighter than it usually was. Finding a purpose in living made her realize the unfortunate events she had to deal with do not seem to be in existence anymore. That does not stop her from wondering how did she make him love her in the first. Could not help by that one question in her head, she asks, "How did you love me? What did I do?"
"When you spend time with someone for a long time, you develop feelings over time."
She may not be able to see what kind of expression he made while typing the answer, but she could hear his soothing calm voice in every word he wrote. Happy but speechless until she noticed the night was not getting younger. She has to end their conversation for the day although her heart does not seem to be calming down. Her body lays down on the bed with her eyes wide open, rewinding every single moment they spent together over the past five months.
Slowly she closes her eyes with the edges of her lips lifted up.
