Take A Chance With Me

My hair is swaying together with the wind while I stare at the two person not too far away from me. My best friend Eirene and her new suitor just a year ahead of us. I'm sitting under an oak tree while reading my favorite book and listening to some RnB music.

Eirene and I are best of friends since we were elementary. But little did she know that I am secretly and madly in love with her but i'm not doing any move. I'm afraid to risk our friendship by confessing my obviously unrequited love.

“Feiren,” I blinked numerous times when I heard her soft voice calling my name. Her suitor has already left.

I looked up to her using my naturally sleepy and mysterious looking eyes before humming as a response.

“Hmm?”

“I don't want to go home yet, can we go somewhere else?” She said with a smile that made me stare at her for a long time.

I nodded my head immediately when I realized that things are not okay at their house and at her family again. I already know her... every little actions that she make, her mannerisms, habits, hobbies, pet peeves. I've already memorized it all. I can always see right through her.

“As much and hard as she tries to hide... I can see right through, see right through.”

“Ice cream or beach?” I asked. Even if I already know that she'll choose both.

“Both, Feiren... As long as you're with me.” She said while smiling.

Her eyes is sparkling and it's like they're trying to tell me something but I couldn't understand. I just nodded my head again before carrying her bag. She immediately held my hand and intertwined our fingers that made my insides go wild.

Her effects on me brings solace, anticipation and an unexplainable feeling just like what music makes me feel.

She's my favorite music.

Her voice is my favorite melody, her words are my favorite lyrics, her beauty is my favorite song, and her laugh is the soundtrack of my life.

I carefully drove to our favorite ice cream parlor and ordered two cookies and cream flavored ice cream... our favorite. And then, I immediately drove to our next destination... the beach. There's no people here, just the two of us. I think this is a private property.

Agad kong nilatag ang hindi kalakihang tela sa buhangin kaharap ang payapa at kulay asul na karagatan. Papalubog pa lang ang araw kung kaya't tuwang-tuwa si Eirene dahil ito ang paborito niyang oras, sunset.

Agad na sinandal niya ang kaniyang ulo sa aking balikat nang maupo ako sa tabi niya habang hawak niya ang aking kana na kamay. Sometimes, the people around us assumes that Eirene and I are in a relationship. But she'll just shrug and laugh it off like it's some kind of a joke. It was painful but I just remained quiet and acted unbothered.

“Do you want to say something, Fei?” She suddenly asked out of nowhere that made me almost stop breathing.
