Its been a month now since I met Toby, we are friends, I suppose. We greet each other every morning, we talk sometimes nothing much. I still find him looking at me, but I look at him too. Sometimes he makes faces at me when I stare at him at the same moment he stares at me, which is cute. Fifth class are excited because they're going to an Island off the coast of Galway called Inis Isle. Fifth class go every year for two weeks, even I went when I was in Fifth class. I went to Evergreen national school when I was younger. Its always great fun and I feel this will be especially great. I have to say these kids are awesome. Theres sporty kids, arty kids* and they're all smart, they are awesome.
I walk down to the top of the hall." One, two, three..." I shout, then me and the kids all shout" DODGEBALL!" I walk over to the CD player, plug my I phone in, I take a minute to look at my screensaver. Pete and I at a football match, I love him, not Toby. I put some music on, while the children pelt eachother with balls. Toby walks in with a little boy from first class, ome of the balls hit him in the head the kids don't notice, but of course I do. I can't seem to keep my eyes of him. I did not just admit that. No.
I wave goodbye to the children as they walk out the blue door of fifth class. I smile and walk to my desk to correct their Irish copies. I check my, silver, watch. Half an hour until, one of the many, Inis Isle meetings. I grab my red pen and get to work, speed correcting the copies. I hear someone outside the door, someone sighing, thoughtfully. I turn to look at the door. I catch a glipse of dark brown hair on top of a tall head. Toby.
I get the brush out of my bag and brush my hair in the bathroom. I straighten my, navy and red, dress and walk out of the bathroom, down the halls into the staffroom. Only Derval,Mary*, me and whoever the other teacher who is coming will be here. I walk in. The first thing, or should I say person I see is, of course, the one and only, Toby Shields. "What are you doing here?" I ask him as I sit beside him.
"I'm going with yous to Inis Isle." He says, giving me a 'surprise! ' face.
No.
