CHAPTER NINE

"What's going on?" Sam asked as her, Kai and his roommate entered the apartment after getting an urgent call from Chad.

Chad pointed towards the TV as everyone focused on the screen in front of them "cute boy...nice" Quinn pointed at Danny with a smile.

"Their names have just been released by police. Jason Carvey and Greg Bruckner"

"Holy shit, that's that chode from our Film Studies class! The one obsessed with Argento" Kai looked at Mindy confused then back to the screen when the reporter spoke up again.

"Also found at the scene were various Ghostface costumes, a character popularized by the Stab movie franchise".

Kai looked at Sam as her face went pale. He was back. Ghostface was back and something told Kai that it would be harder this time. "Pack a bag. We leave in ten" Sam rushed before going to her room to pack her own stuff with Tara trailing behind trying to stop her.

Kai decided to not intervene with the two sisters and stick to himself for this own. Getting involved in sisterly arguments has never really ended well for him at any time in his life.

"What is going on?" Kai turned to Danny as did Chad "Thank you very much, suspicious new guy, but we got it from here. Have a good night. Get home safe. Go, go, go." Kai threw Chad a look after the boy closed the door leaving Danny outside.

"He could be a killer" Chad shrugged innocently. Kai rolled his eyes with a smile before everyone's attention was brought back to the two sisters who had taken stage in the living room.

"No, wait, let's talk about this for a second. 'Cause this might not have anything to do with us" Tara tried to reason "are you serious?" Sam was fuming and Kai could see how much it was getting to her. "It's a big city! It's Halloween. Everybody's wearing masks! You don't know".

"Tara, this isn't a coincidence. You knew him!"

"Barely"

"Chad, Mindy, Kai, back me up" Kai itched the back of his head as he nodded with a tilt to the side "yeah, it does hit very close to home to be honest" he admitted. "See?" Tara couldn't believe what she was hearing. There was no way.

"Quinn, your dads a cop, right? Can you call him and find out what's going on?" She asked the ginger girl "Before you make the unilateral decision to abandon my college education and flee the fucking state!" She turned back around to Sam.

Sam turned to Kai "I mean, she could be right. It could just be a false alarm. At least let's be sure of it before we do anything" Kai shrugged. He didn't really know what to say. He never really did.

"I'm calling him now" Quinn told the girl who thanked her in response. Just as Quinn put the phone to her ear, a phone rang on the table.

Sam approached the table and scoffed lightly as she declined the call. "Why did everyone just freak out when her phone rang?" Kai looked at Ethan and sighed shaking his head. "You got to keep up, my dude" Anika spoke towards the boy.

"Sam?" Quinn called "my dad wants to talk to you" she walked over handing the phone to the Carpenter woman.

"Mr. Bailey, hi"

Kai walked over closer so he could hear what was been said.

"Hey, Sam. I was actually just about to call you"

"Well, my sister thinks I'm probably overreacting"

"No, unfortunately, your not"

"What do you mean? What's going on?"
