It was christmas eve in hogwarts and a small number of students remained in the castle. Many students went home before the battle, leaving just enough to give their life for the school. Olivia is still hurting from what happened, both physically and emotionally, but Mattheo has been there to ease the pain. They hadn't made it official yet, but the necklace was Mattheos way of saying she was his.
Olivia is sat in the common room, wrapping her friends presents. She heard the door shut and , assuming it was her friends, she slid the presents under the table. She looked up and saw Lorenzo, she didn't know whether to be shocked or relieved. "Hi" she said. Lorenzo smiled and sat opposite her. "Hello." He said. He sighed and tipped his head down. "I'm sorry. I have been a fool. I don't know why I did what I did but I can promise you, I am so sorry." He said, looking up and meeting her eyes.
"Lorenzo, I have missed you so much. I know I shouldn't forgive you so easily but there is so much you have missed out on." She says. "But I.." She is cut off, "I am really sorry, I'll do anything." He says. Olivia sighs. "I'm saying I forgive you." She says. Lorenzo let's out a sigh of relief. "I need to go to my dorm, but can I see you later?" He asks. "The astronomy tower at 8pm." She says. Lorenzo nods and smiles, leaving the common room.
Olivia stores the presents in her dorm, before walking to Mattheos to see him. She opens to door and he is sat at his desk. She closes the door and throws herself onto his bed, sighing. He spins in his chair with his pen in his mouth to look at her, "What's wrong, pretty lady?" He asked. "Me and Enzo are friends again." She says. He smiles "That's good, now you can finally tell him his rumours weren't fake" He smirks and Olivia chuckles.
He gets up from his desk and lays down with Olivia, placing his head on her stomach while he lays between her legs. He sighs as she runs her fingers through his curls. "Draco asked about you at breakfast today,I told him you were just asleep." Olivia said. Mattheo shuts his eyes, "Yeah I was pretty tired." He tells her. "I know you miss him, Matt. It's fine to grieve. You don't need to make excuses I'm not mad at you." She tells him. He smiles and hugs her tighter.
"All I could think of when I walked towards Voldemort was you, I wasn't worried about me dying I was just worried about you watching it happen." He said, "The only thing I thought of when Tom killed him was how I was going to be able to continue mine and yours story." He sighed. Olivia stayed quiet, letting him talk. "I feel like I don't think about him enough, what he did for us." He said. "Us?" She asked. "He told me that he gave me life and love. He gave you me." Olivia smiles at his words. She was forever grateful for Tom, even before he died.
"Your brother was a great person, Mattheo. He thought the world of you. And don't doubt yourself, ever. Theres no specific amount that you have to think of him, what you do is enough. You still spread his knowledge, and you will forever." She told him. "Mattheo, you are.." Olivia stops. Mattheo lifted his head to look at her, "The reason I survived." She tells him. He furrowed his brows, "But I didn't do anything?" He said. "Something happened in that hospital bed and my only motive to keep trying was you. What you said to me." She tells him.
He smiled and put his head back down. "Theo said I was incapable of love, the reason I ignored him that day was because he didn't know what he was talking about. He thought I was incapable of love because he watched me 'love' so many girls, but he never watched me love you.You are everything." He told her. Mattheos love for Olivia was powerful. However, there was no label for their love, only the knowledge that he was hers and she was his.
"Theo said that?" She asked. "Yeah. It doesn't matter anymore." He said. Olivia is deep in thought, the same way her hand was deep in the curls on his head. She tipped her head down and admired the boy, watching the hair wrap around her fingers so perfectly and his head lifting and rising as she breathes. The curl his lips do , he is permanently smiling. She knew she loved him when he apologised that night, and she knew he loved her.
He was peaceful, feeling his head raising along with her lungs inflating. His world stopped when she wasn't in his arms, he felt as if she was in danger everytime he couldn't contact her. He knew he loved her when he could tell her how he felt. He had never said 'I love you' to any girl before her. Mattheo is worried about her falling out of love if he doesn't ask her to be his girlfriend, but he doesn't know if she's ready for him. He doesn't only love her, he loves her family too, it was perfect.
"Can you stay with me tonight?" Mattheo asked, knowing if she didn't then he wouldn't sleep. "Of course. I need to meet Lorenzo at 8 but I'll come back." She tells him. "Okay." He nods, his smooth hair rubbing over where the wound was. She ignored the pain, she wanted him to stay with her. She removed one of her hands from his arm and touched the necklace around her neck, rubbing her fingers over the initials as she once rubbed them over his writing.
The cold silver tingled on her fingers, as if it had a barrier on it. She smiled and put her hand back on his shoulder. Olivia let Mattheo sleep for a a few hours, while she read her book. She knew he hadn't slept since the battle and wanted him to know he was safe. "I love you, Mattheo." She told him while he slept, she felt too scared to say it while he was awake, incase he only said it because he thought she was going to die. She clings onto the time he first said it, in his dorm on the night of the yule ball, after Tom sent her.
