Jayden POV

"Mom can Braxton come over!" I scream from the door of my room. I know what she's going to say but if I don't ask she still gets distressed.

She walks over to the stairs, her hair in a messy bun as she has an apron on that's blue with sunflowers on it. My mom is a baker, and a great one at that. My dad and I love when she makes her banana pudding cake. It's the absolute best.

She wipes her hands on her apron and brushes the stand of hair out of her face that fell from her bun. Smiling up at me, she crosses her arms. "And would Braxton like some of this Strawberry cake and meatloaf."

I grin, nodding my head quickly. "Yes Ma'am! Can we have mashed potatoes too!?" I get excited. My mom makes the BEST strawberry cake. Meatloaf and mashed potatoes is one of my favorite meals. She laughed at how happy I got and says okay before walking back into the kitchen.

I walk over to my bed, hopping on it and grabbing my phone off the pillow. I text Braxton and let him know he can come over and play the game, and that my mom is making dinner and dessert. He sends me a message saying he's on his way and I put my phone in my pocket before running down the stairs.

Once down the stairs I peek my head into the kitchen, letting my mom know I'm about to leave to meet him. She gives me a humming okay and says that she loves me and to be safe as I go to the door and put my shoes on in a hurry.

*30 Minutes Later*

I'm sitting at the park with my phone in my hand, waiting on him to meet me at our normal spot. I sigh getting frustrated with what's taking so long. Dinner is probably almost done and he should have been here by now. He isn't answering the phone, I've called him like 10 times.

Getting up and walking over to the pond I toss some rocks in trying to get one to skip when I hear some girls giggling about something. As I look over, I see this beautiful girl. She has the most beautiful black curly hair. Her laugh makes me smile. Her friends start to point and as I look up to see what they're pointing at I realize that it's Braxton walking up towards the park.

I shoot my mom a text letting her know he finally got there. She sent me a red heart back in response. I glance over at the black haired girl once more and smile, then jog over to where he's walking. He seems out of breath as he stops at one of the nearby benches.

"Wassup dude my mom was getting worried." I state. She called me 3 times since I've been sitting here waiting. He wipes the sweat off his face which is odd, due to the fact that it is a nice day out. It isn't hot at all, perfect weather to be outside in a short sleeve shirt and some pants.

He mumbles out a "sorry" as he looks over at the giggling girls, then elbows me. "Got some time for a bet?"

I grin at him already knowing what it is. I nod my head and we start planning the bet. "I call my bet on the dark haired girl." I don't even want him looking at her. I saw her first, she caught my attention first.

He raises his eyebrow at me, and nods laughing. "No problem bro, I want that red haired girl." I look at the other girls and realize the rest of the girls hanging with her.

The red haired girl, she's wearing all black pants with rips in them. She had on a purple shirt with flowers covering it. There are two blondes, one wearing some red leggings and a black tank top and the other girl was wearing a pink crop top and some ripped jeans. Then there was my girl. With her beautiful black hair, she was wearing a pair of grey sweatpants and a green shirt.

"So if we both fail to get their number's, what's the deal?" I'm curious. Normally it doesn't happen but you never know.

"If we both get their numbers then we both win. If one of us doesn't get a number then the loser has to pay for the winners first date. If we both lose we have to wear whatever we pick for each other. The ugliest thing you can find."

I chuckle at his idea. I definitely can't lose. Wearing something ugly is not ideal. "Deal." We shake hands and walk over to where the girls are gathered. As we start getting closer you can see their faces better. The cute girl with dark hair has freckles. Not allot, just a few on her face. She has some glasses hanging off the front of her shirt and a hair tie around her wrist. They see us coming closer and start giggling more.

Braxton walks up to them first introducing himself. "Hey ladies, I'm Braxton." He gives his award winning smile at them causing them to all blush. I stumble behind him, face turning red as I see them all staring at me.

"My names Jayden" I smile, eyes wondering over at the dark haired girl. "What's your guys names?"

The blonde in the pink crop top goes first. "My names Heather" she points to the other blonde "that's my cousin Lacey". Lacey gives a little wave face still flushed red.

"My name is Trinity." The red hair girl bit her lip blushing.

"Cheyanne" the dark haired girl said so quietly you almost couldn't hear her. I smile at her and give her my hand.

"Well it's nice to meet you guys." I shake the rest of their hands too. Just like mother taught me to be a gentleman. I look over to see that Braxton is already chatting it up with Trinity, Heather and Lacey. I glance over at Cheyanne and see she's nervous playing with her fingers. "Wanna sit on the bench and talk?"

She looks up at me and nods her head, cheeks still slightly red. Her tan complexion you can barely see the blush on her cheeks. "Sure."

We head over to the bench and sit down. The first question I had was about her glasses. "How come you aren't wearing your glasses."

Her eyes widen and she removes them from her shirt. She sits them on the bench next to her chewing on the inside of her cheek before answering. "I don't like wearing them. But my mom and dad tell me I need to anyways."

I chuckle, not at her, but at her shyness. Normally when girls talk to us they are flirting. We play football for our school. We are only freshman, so we play junior varsity right now but we are still good. I wonder how come I haven't seen her around the school before. They must not go to the same private school we do. "What do you like to do for fun Cheyanne."

She looks down at her fingers again and sighs. I frown hoping I'm not upsetting her. I truly just want to get to know her.

"I like to read. I spend allot of time in the library. We just moved here this summer and I haven't got allot of time to spend in it yet with my new friends tho." She frowns and I realize why she's so upset.

"Well how about we check it out one day yeah? I can meet you at this park and we can walk there. It isn't far from here at all." I smile at her hoping that she takes my offer. I don't care about the bet, I just want to get to know her. She seems so different than most girls.

She goes wide eyed looking at me. Her greenish grey eyes are stunning. "Really? You'd go with me?"

I nod my head. "How about we exchange numbers. Whenever you wanna go let me know?" As soon as I say that my mom text me and lets me know we need to be heading home. Dinner is finished and my dad is almost home.

She grins and hands me her phone. I put my number in it with my name and hand it back. "Til next time Cheyanne" I smile at her. She smiles back at me and nods her head heading back to the group with her friends as I get Brax letting him know it's time to go.

Once we get onto my street, I nudge him with my arm. He side eyes me causing me to laugh. "You haven't done any bragging so I'm going to take it you didn't get Trinitys number?"

He pushes me a little and huffs. "Nooo she said girl code because Tiffany thinks I'm cute." He then stops and looks at me with an eyebrow raised. "You got her number didn't you?"

I laugh and nod my head showing him the message she had sent me with her name and a heart once we left. "Now I gotta pay for your first date." Braxton frowns.

I place my hand on his shoulder, "it's okay bro. We are just going to a library."

With that being said we walk into my house, take our shoes off, wash our hands and join my parents at the kitchen table ready to eat dinner.
