The Odd One Out (Hailee Steinfeld)

Chapter 5

Alex woke up as the bright sun hit her in the face. She rubbed her eyes for a second then swung her legs over the side of the couch running her fingers through her hair. She stood up stretching as her back popped. She grabbed her wired headphones that were next to her and put both in grabbing her phone on the table and clicking on the Christmas playlist she had made. Once she was satisfied with the song she headed over to the kitchen and opened the fridge grabbing a carton of eggs out and placing them on the counter. She grabbed a pan setting it on the stove. Alex went back to the fridge and grabbed out some butter and milk setting it beside the carton of eggs. She walked across the kitchen and opened a cabinet grabbing salt and pepper out of it and walking back over and setting next to the rest of the ingredients. Alex opened the dishwasher grabbing a clean bowl out of it setting it down. She cracked the eggs into the bowl and quickly grabbed a spoon then started whisking the eggs. She poured in some salt along with pepper and milk. She whisked it around then after she was satisfied with it she grabbed the carton of butter and went over to the pan on the stove. She quickly grabbed a knife then scooped some butter out putting it into the pan. Alex turned on the stove and within the next few seconds she head a sizzling noise. She moved back over to the bowl and picked it up pouring it into the pan. She stepped away letting the eggs cook a little bit and put the rest of the ingredients back in their original places and dancing around the kitchen a little bit. She grabbed a spatula out of a drawer and went back to the eggs and started scrambling them tapping her foot on the floor to the beat of her song. Once the eggs were done she grabbed a plate putting all the eggs on there and letting them cool as she decided to make pancakes. She grabbed the pancake mix out of the cupboard and shook up the bottle loosening the mix, then she turned up the heat a little bit on the stove and swaying to the music as she let it get warm. She poured some of the mix onto the pan then went back to the living room to grab her phone as she let it cook.

She made her way back into the kitchen and grabbed the spatula from earlier flipping the pancake to cook on the other side. She got onto her phone as she leaned against the table behind her. A text popped up from Braden and she quickly swiped away the notification not even wanting to read it. She saw another notification from Tracy but it was from instagram. Alex read the notification,

Tracy has added you and one other to her story.

Alex quickly opened instagram and clicked on Tracy's story seeing a picture of her and Hailee in the backyard talking and smiling at each other. Alex started to panic and as she read the words on the screen it got worse, Look at those two love birds. 😍 Alex instantly went onto her and Tracy's text messages as she went over to the pancake on the stover quickly taking the spatula picking up the pancake and carefully set it on the plate next to the eggs. She poured some more pancake batter into the pan deciding only to make two since she wasn't going to eat any. Alex looked back down at her phone and let her thumbs travel across each letter as she typed.

What were you thinking putting that on your story oh wait you weren't thinking you were drunk.

Alex thought as she typed out her text. She quickly sent the message as she went back over to the stove flipping over the pancake. Alex took both her AirPods out putting them back in the case then shoving them into her shorts pocket. She connected her phone to her speaker as she continued playing her Christmas music. She swayed to the music as she walked back over to the pancake and picked it up with the spatula setting it onto the plate. Alex set the plate on the main table and went and grabbed the pan, spatula, bowl, and that dirty spoon that she whisked with into the sink. She turned on the water and grabbed a sponge and drizzled some soap onto the pan and started cleaning it. Bobbing her head as the music flowed through the air. Once she was done washing the pan she set it to the side and continued washing the rest of the things in the sink. After she got done she dried them off and put everything back into their original places.
