"What do I do? Why is this happening to me?"
"Somebody... help"
"Somebody in our class betrayed us..."
"No one's coming to rescue me..."
"What do I want to do in this hopeless pit of despair... I want to go home... everyone in the way is my enemy... I... I want to ki-"
"Don't you complete that sentence, dumbass. Damn, I separate from you for two minutes, and you just transform into a brooding fucking emo boy."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Man... I hate school..." muttered a tired Hajime as he walked towards the entrance.
"Quit complaining, I was the one you forced to play all night," said a white-haired teen next to him.
"Gomen, Stevey, I was just too excited."
"But seriously, I don't get paid enough for this shit..." he muttered yawning.
"Oh right, I remember you told me about this case you were working on. How is it going?"
"Ah, well, I am just an Analyst Intern, so the workload and clearance both were low, but then the case is a major one, so I'll say I'm barely managing. The case in itself is going well though, I must say."
Steve Ray, Hajime's classmate and best friend. He had sparkling blue eyes and white hair. The kind of guy you'd see being flocked by girls. Only, there was one problem.
He acted like a shut-in, nerdy Otaku.
This was all a façade, however, as he was an extremely intelligent guy with multiple skills. He was in fact one of the 120 prodigy detectives hired by the Japanese Police. Three years prior to the current time, Japanese police held an experiment. An experiment to groom children who were interested in joining the Police Investigation team when they grew up.
The purpose of this was simple. To groom the best ones at a young age. Of the group of 3000 that applied, Steve was the best. Thus, along with 119 others, he was trained to the maximum potential.
Well, of course, the detectives needed to complete their schooling. So here he was, going to school with his best friend.
"I don't even get why you pretend to be like me during school. With your brain, you could outdo Kouki very easily."
"Don't give a fuck. Plus you know how big that guy's ego is, even though he tries to be 'helpful'. Like literally, if he was any more pretentious I'd hurl."
"I-I mean he doesn't mean wrong..." Hajime said with a sweatdrop.
"'DoES't MeAn wRoNG' my foot. He comes out as the most arrogant, self-entitled prick ever. Like seriously, he has some hero complex."
"Aren't you being too harsh on him? Maybe he just wants to help everyone?"
"Dude, help? By helping if you mean not looking from other's point of view and forcing my opinions and morals onto them, then yeah. I want to help people, that's why I joined the agency. But dude, this guy is just lecturing everyone without thinking.
Anyways, as for why I don't come first, well two reasons. One, I don't need to since I've got a set job I'll be definitely getting and two, I'm a VERY judgmental guy. I like to judge people and discern their true nature. And well, as they say, if you want to know what a person's like, take a good look at how they treat their inferiors, not their equals. And generally, who's considered more inferior than a nerdy otaku?"
"You seriously watch too many movies, I can see their influence on you..."
"Come on, I could say the same about you and your game obsessions. I'm half Indian, and loving movies runs in my blood."
