Chapter 2- The intuition

Kaori and Steve were sitting across from each other as there was a comfortable silence around them.

"Okay, seriously if you're here to ask me for help in getting together with Haji-"

"ONII CHAN!"

"Then why are you here?"

"Well... I... I had a dream."

"OH?"

"W-well... I saw you and Hajime disappearing... I kept screaming your names, but you kept getting farther and farther... I was scared..." she muttered as her eyes watered.

"C-can you both stay back tomorrow?"

Steve sighed as he got up.

"Listen, Kaori... We can't do that. Plus, it's just a dream. We'll have both Meld san and the whole class with us tomorrow."

"B-bu-"

"IF you're that worried, how about you protect us?"

"Huh?"

"You've got healing magic, you can heal both of us if we get injured, right?"

"Y-yeah..."

"... Kaori, listen. No matter what happens, I'll always return to you, mom, and dad. You're my family okay?"

"..."

"As Dominic said, there's nothing stronger than family," Steve added causing Kaori to chuckle.

"Alright! Let's do our best!"

"Yes. Now unless you want to wake up late tomorrow, it'd be better for you to go back now," he deadpanned as Kaori's eyes widened.

"RIGHT! BYE!"

He chuckled as she rushed out of the room. However, neither of them noticed the guy who looked at them with anger in his eyes.

They were all outside the dungeon as Meld was explaining things to them.

However, Hajime and Steve didn't give a fuck. They both already knew what he was saying.

Thus, Steve was teasing Hajime.

"Kaori totally likes you," he said with a smug grin.

"S-shut up... what's there to like in me anyways?"

"... you serious?"

"Y-yeah? I'm just a plain ol' weak mob character."

"And yet, this 'plain ol' weak' guy is trying his best to be useful. Dude, you've always done your best no matter the case. Remember when you jumped in to save that little girl and her mother?"

"And gotten beaten by that big guy? Yes, it was so embarrassing. Why do you remind me that?"

"Well, just remember their faces and how thankful they were to you, even though you were beaten. You see, what matters the most is the effort, and you've never given less than your all. That's why she loves you."

"WHAT?"

"Ah, right, be quiet about that, and make sure not to tell her that I slipped that out, or she'll kill me..."

"R-right..."

"Listen, Hajime. I don't know what's going to happen today. Yesterday Kaori told me that she saw us disappearing in her dream, and I am not getting a good feeling. So just... whatever happens, don't change. If we're separated from each other... just wait for me."
