The summer air hung heavy over the charming, modest house located on the outskirts of a small muggle town. Cassiopeia Lestrange sat by the window, tracing the faded lines of her name on the cover of an old book. She looked up to stare out the window at the large empty field in her backyard, where her older cousin had spent so many days teaching her quidditch, but today stood empty.

As Cassiopeia aged, (she was now 11) her hair darkened to a rich brown, it was thick and shiny and wavy. Her eyes were slightly hooded but still a vibrant blue. They were strange eyes, not because of the color or hoodedness but because they moved so quickly. Cassiopeia scanned her surroundings with such ferocious speed that those around her often urged her to slow down, even if she was sitting still.

Cassiopeia's eyes were doing that very thing right now, as her heart raced with anticipation, knowing that today might bring the news she'd been longing for.

The sound of footsteps on creaky floorboards echoed through the hallway, pulling Cassiopeia's attention away from the window. Her aunt Andromeda entered the room, a small envelope clutched in her hands.

"Cassiopeia," Andromeda said softly, a mix of excitement and apprehension in her voice. "It's finally here."

With trembling hands, Cassiopeia accepted the letter. Her fingers brushed the Hogwarts crest stamped in purple wax on the envelope, a lion, an eagle, a badger, and a snake surrounding a large letter H. A symbol of the world she had only heard about in stories.

The envelope was thick and heavy, made of yellowish parchment. Turning the envelope over she found the address was written in emerald-green ink. There was no stamp.

She held up a letter so they could read the green ink address:

Miss. C. Lestrange

The Second Upstairs Bedroom

6 Willow Lane

Bury St. Edmunds

Suffolk

As she tore open the seal, a rush of emotions flooded through her. Joy, nervousness, and a hint of fear mingled in her chest. She pulled out the letter and read:
