03. diagon alley

The afternoon sun shone overhead as Andromeda, Nymphadora, and Cassiopeia made their way back down Diagon Alley.

Cassiopeia walked in silence, clutching the box in which held her brand new wand, and mulling over the things Mr. Ollivander had said to her. She had finally met and talked to someone from the wizarding world and all he had to say was things about her parents. What would happen when she arrived at Hogwarts? Is that going to be the only thing she would be known for, being the daughter of death eaters?

Andromeda could see Cassiopeia was sullen and wished more than anything she could take away her niece's pain away. It was unfair that Cassiopeia had to live with the consequences of her parents' actions.

Nymphadora was the one who finally tried to cheer Cassiopeia up. She bumped her younger cousin's hip with her own. "Hey, show me your school supply list Cass, we have to get everything done so I have time to buy you that birthday present I promised."

"Dora, my birthday was nearly three months ago." Cassiopeia said teasingly but smiled brightly. She could never stay upset for too long especially with her cousin there to cheer her up.

"Hey, better late than never." Nymphadora defended, causing her younger cousin to smile even wider at her forgetfulness.

Cassiopeia then pulled out her envelope and unfolded the second piece of paper that had been with her letter, and read:

HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

UNIFORM

First-year students will require:

1. Three sets of plain work robes (black)

2. One plain pointed hat (black) for day wear

3. One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar)

4. One winter cloak (black, silver fastenings)

Please note that all pupils' clothes should carry name tags
