STEFAN, ELENA, AND ELIJAH were all sat in the lounge of the Salvatore Boarding House. Damon had just left the room after having another outburst, leaving the room full of tension.

Elena was quite angry with Damon. She had found another way to kill Klaus without Bonnie having to die, yet he still didn't trust her. Well, she believed that he trusted her, he just didn't trust Elijah -- which was fair. But it annoyed her that he was so persistent about using Bonnie to kill Klaus even when she had found a way to not get killed in the ritual.

After a group conversation with Alaric, who was no longer possessed by Klaus, about why he let him go, Elena went to find Damon.

She found him in his room and stood at the door, leaning against the wall.

"You disappeared," Elena stated.

"Didn't want to hear any more."

She sighed heavily, stepping into the room, and walked over to Damon.

"I need you to understand why I'm doing this."

"Why?" He asked rhetorically. "It clearly doesn't matter what I think."

He turned around to face her, a scowl was etched onto his face.

Elena began to feel agravated at how Damon refused to listen to her.

"I'll be fine, Damon," she said gently, trying to hide the annoyance in her tone. "I'll drink the elixir, Bonnie will kill Klaus and then all of this will finally be over."

"If it works."

"It will work."

"You think it will work," Damon accused, causing Elena to glare at him. "You want it to work. Why am I the only one who is convinced that it won't? There has to be another way."

"There isn't!"

"You're going to die, Elena..."

"And then I'll come back to life."

Damon walked closer to Elena and glared at her; she glared back.

"That is not a risk I'm willing to take," he said.

"But I am. It's my life, Damon. My choice."

"I can't lose you," he muttered quietly, as if too shy to say it aloud.

It was true... he couldn't. He doesn't know what he would do if she died.

He had lost so many people in his life that he switched his emotions off, yet, somehow, Elena had made him switch them back on. It was terrifying at first, feeling again. It was also a nightmare. He couldn't even feed without feeling remorse, until he resorted to blood bags, but he was glad he did it because he managed to build an amazing friendship.
