Dorinda's POV, 2 months later
I was in my home office working on a new sermon before my next speaking gig when my phone was lighting up with texts.
I stopped my study and unlocked my phone to see Bey texting me good morning. I smiled and clicked the FaceTime button.She immediately picked up.
"Good morning gorgeous!" She said into the phone. She was in her bathroom with rollers in her hair and a bare face.
"Good morning hun. Why are you up so early? It's 5am for you." I said.
"I know. I have an urgent New York trip in a few with Parkwood that I can't miss. What are you doing right now?" She asked.
I brought my phone up closer to my face and leaned back in my chair.
"Working on a new sermon. I'm halfway done but need to read more scriptures to support my message." I said.
"Have you taken a break yet?" She asked with concern. My initial thought was to lie but that'll be pointless.
"No not yet but I plan on stopping for lunch." I said. Bey shook her head as she picked up the phone and began walking around her room.
"You know I don't like when you work nonstop without breaks Queen. You need to pause and not always overwork yourself." She said.
"I know but when I'm in my zone it's hard to break it. And I know you're the last one to get on somebody about breaks. You do too much too." I said back.
She stopped walking around and looked into the phone. She squinted her eyes and pointed her index finger at me.
"You know what. You're right. We are workaholics and that's why you're coming with me to New York." She said.
I looked at her confused and immediately shook my head.
"New York? I can't just up and go there Bey." I said.
"And why not? You're studying your message but you need to take a break. A day trip in the city won't hurt the sermon." She said.
"But it's last minute and you'll be busy with work so what will I do? I don't like being alone in big cities like that." I said.
"You gotta learn to go with the flow DoeDoe. My meeting will last like 2 hours max and we'll still have the evening and night to do things." She said.
I gave it some thought the more she rambled on and on about all we could do.
"Alright, alright. I'm in. How much should I pack?" I said smiling. She beamed into the phone."I knew you'd say yes. Can you stay for two nights? Pack enough for that." She said. I nodded my head and we spoke more about travel arrangements. Bey was going to handle everything for me and book me a flight.
We got off the phone but before I hung up, I promised to let her know when my plane has landed.
I must admit, no one has ever just booked me a flight to meet up with them on a whim like this. It's exciting and I can't wait to see Bey again. I turned off my laptop and closed my Bible so I can get started on packing. I'm already dressed for the day but I wanted to use my time wisely picking good outfits for New York before my driver, per Bey's request, would take me to the airport.
I went to my closet and pulled out a mix of casual and dressy clothes. As I hang around Bey, I'm realizing that I'm slowly expanding my fashion sense and getting more comfortable in my skin.
I'm not dressing half naked or anything outrageous, but I'm also not dressing for my age, per se.
~~~
Few hours laterI've been relaxing in Bey's condo for a couple of hours since I landed and was growing anxious waiting to see her. She went straight to her meeting once she landed so I haven't seen her yet.
