Ayanna Kairo Thomspon|18 I felt the bright shining sun on my face that was coming from outside, I opened my eyes to look around where I could see how messy my room was. Before I could even think about remembering what happened to room I heard my mom calling me.
I answered, yes mom in which she didn't reply so I made my way to her room. "Yes mom you called
"She looked at me furious, I was confused so I ask her why did she called.
She says Don't you reminder that today the cxc results come out today, why were you still in bed when you know have to do chores in order to have the house clean when the family comes to see you open the results at 5pm.
: CXC-(Caribbean Examination Council) This an process in which students in the carbbiean takes a test based on a subject they are in.
In which the results will come back in couple months to see if you pass or failed the test in which this will help with the qualification for jobs and colleges.
"I was scared for the results because I know all my family members would be there and my mom and dad would be disappointed in me if I did not pass all my subjects."
My mom shouted at me as I captured in my own thoughts, I was startled which lead to me snapping out of my thoughts.
"Ok mom, I'll start cleaning the house right now. I could feel her eyes looking at me up and down while I exiting out of the room, I patiently waiting for her to say something but she never did .
"I hurried to start everything I had to do.
I cleaned the bathroom, living room and I went on my way to clean my room when I got a notification on my phone when I look it was Seoul University stating that they have read my email about applying to their school and will get back to me as soon as possible.
"I little excited that the wrote me back but I was on the edge because I have not told my mom I have applied to a school so far from home and I was scared cause she does want me too far from home.
"But I have planned to tell her tonight when I find out my results. I hurried to finish clean my room and that I did by time I could fall on my bed to relax.
I heard my mom call my name, she wanted me to help cook which I did not want to do because my sister was right there watching tv while she could help to.
"Jayla, why don't you come help mom" , I said .
"No no no" my mom said let her enjoy the tv.
I ignored what my mom said. And hurried my way to the living room to bring my sister into the kitchen where she has to do the dishes.
4 hours later:
It was 6 pm in the evening and I knew my cxc results were out already. Around 7 pm half of my family members gather into the living room where they were waiting on me to open the portal to see my grade.
I open to see which subject I pass. A high pitch screaming for mouth from disbelief that I passed all 10 subjects I took exams for. My mom started jumping up and down shouting.
" My daughter is a star, no one will stop her blessing". She gave a big huge and kiss me on the cheek.
"I'm so proud of you my sweet girl" my mom said. Tears started to fall from my eyes I heard what she said because I have not heard her tell me she proud of me in a long time.
As soon as I finished hugging my mom I was bombarded with at huge congratulations from my family members and everyone was making a lot noise from the excitement they were all feeling.
It felt so unreal that I really achieved what I wanted and made my family proud at the same time.
A few hours passed by and everyone was ready to go home. They went on their way and I started to clean to the house.
"I hurried to finish up the cleaning, so I could relax in my bedroom. Finally I lay on my bed and close my eyes to readjust my thoughts because I still felt the nervousness I was feeling from the inside.
I took up my phone to see if I have any notifications but I did not. I felt tried so I closed my eyes before I knew it I was alseep.
Next Morning:
7:20AM "As I woke up, I could feel the cold breeze from outside trees on my body. It was a new day and I had to get up because I had things to do.
"I pick up my phone off the bedside table to see if I have any messages. As soon as look I saw an email that was sent earlier. I open the email.
"I could not move my body, An email from Seoul university, I could see my finger inching away from opening the email but my brain was telling me not to but I hurried and open it.
"I was shocked, I was accpected to my dream school and I was give a scholarship that covers all of the 4 years I had to go to school before I have to start medical school.
"Tear formed in my eyes, I did it, I actually did it. The easy part has been done all round it's time for the next hard step, I had to tell my mom.
I had 1 week before I had to go so I have to tell her during the week.
"A smile never left my face as i was spreading my bed and also sweep my floors.
I made my way to the kitchen and my mind was thinking of all the possibilities of what my life is going to be like when I arrive in South Korea.
