The school day unfolded in its usual chaotic rhythm, and Kim, the classmate known for her sharp instincts and unwavering logic, sensed a peculiar energy in the air. Gossip, like an invisible current, reached her ears – whispers about Nate's supposed crush on Blade. Determined to unravel the truth, she decided to confront Nate during lunch.

Approaching the group, Kim wore her signature look of disapproval. "Okay, spill it, Nate. What's this I hear about you having a crush?"

Caught off guard by Kim's directness, Nate stammered, "Crush? Who said I have a crush? That's ridiculous!"

Teddy, Francis, and Deedee exchanged knowing glances, anticipating the storm that Kim was about to unleash.

Arms crossed, Kim remained unimpressed. "Don't play games with me, Nate. I know you too well. So, who's the lucky person?"

Before Nate could conjure a witty response, a familiar voice interrupted. "Yo! What's going on here?"

Blade made his entrance, his leather jacket adding an extra layer of coolness. He slung an arm around Nate's shoulders, giving Susan a playful smirk. "Stay away from my lil' bro, Susan. He's got a sensitive heart, you know?"

Kim blinked, momentarily taken aback by Blade's unexpected appearance and protective demeanor. "Wait, Blade? Nate, is this true?"

Feeling the weight of the moment, Nate decided to play along with Blade's theatrics. "Uh, yeah, Susan. Blade and I, we're like, brothers from another mother. You know, bro code and all that."

Blade nodded, his expression serious. "That's right. Bros before woes, you feel me?"

Skeptical but amused, Kim raised an eyebrow. "Bros before woes? Seriously?"

Blade grinned. "You got it. So, unless you want to face the wrath of the bro code, I suggest you let Nate off the hook. Cool?"

Kim chuckled, shaking her head. "Fine, Blade, you win this round. But mark my words, I'll get to the bottom of this eventually."

As Kim walked away, Blade turned to Nate with a smirk. "Smooth, lil' bro. Now, let's go conquer the rest of the school day."

And so, with Kim temporarily appeased and the bro code firmly in place, Nate and Blade continued their middle school escapades, leaving behind a trail of laughter, confusion, and the ever-elusive truth about Nate's mysterious crush.
