The school day continued, and as Nate and Blade found a quiet spot in the courtyard, Blade's gaze shifted from the hustle and bustle of students to Nate, his pseudo-little brother. There was a thoughtful expression on Blade's face, one that hinted at a deeper curiosity.

"Hey, Nate," Blade began, his tone casual, "I've been meaning to ask you about something."

Nate looked up, his curiosity piqued. "Shoot, big bro. What's on your mind?"

Blade leaned back, propping himself up on his elbows. "I've noticed you and Jenny spending a lot of time together. What's the deal there?"

Nate's cheeks turned a shade of red, and he stumbled over his words. "Uh, Jenny? I mean, yeah, we're friends. Why do you ask?"

Blade raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk playing on his lips. "Friends, huh? Just friends?"

Nate squirmed, realizing that Blade wasn't going to let him off the hook easily. "Well, yeah, we're just friends. Why?"

Blade chuckled, a twinkle in his eye. "Just making sure, lil' bro. You know, a big brother's got to look out for these things. Jenny's a cool girl, though."

Nate sighed in relief, the tension dissipating. "Yeah, she's cool. We've been friends forever."

Blade nodded, a thoughtful expression returning to his face. "Friends forever, huh? That's pretty special. Just remember, if anything more than friendship starts brewing, you can always count on your big bro for advice."

Nate rolled his eyes, but there was a genuine warmth in his response. "Thanks, Blade. I'll keep that in mind. But seriously, there's nothing more than friendship going on with Jenny. We're just pals."

Blade grinned, giving Nate a playful nudge. "Alright, I'll take your word for it. Now, let's go grab a snack or something. I'm feeling a sudden craving for cheese fries."

As they walked toward the school cafeteria, the conversation shifted to lighter topics, and Nate couldn't help but appreciate the unique bond he shared with Blade. Whether it was facing the rumors, embarking on unexpected adventures, or navigating the complexities of middle school friendships, Nate knew he had a big brother figure in Blade who would always have his back. Little did he know that their sibling-like dynamic would continue to shape the colorful tapestry of their middle school escapades.
