"Do you believe in other universes Sea?" Dutch asks breaking the silence between the two of them, Hosea was busy reading and running his fingers through Dutch's curls as the younger man laid his head on his chest, listening to the soothing sound of his lover's heartbeat

"Yeah I guess so, why?" he sighs as he strokes Dutch's hair, this was Dutch's favourite part of the day spending alone time with the man he loved most

"Do you think we're in love in every other universe?" He questions as he moves his head so his chin is leaning on Hosea's chest

"I hope so" Hosea smiles softly as he shifts his fingers across Dutch's cheek

"Do you think we're living the same life in other universes? That we're outlaws in every one or that we're doing other things like peacefully living on a ranch enjoying each other's company, slow dancing to a gramophone in a real home" Dutch continues, a ridiculous smile tugging at the corner of his lips

"They're called other universes for a reason dear, anything could happen in them maybe there's another universe where we stopped doing this after we found Arthur and settled down as a family" he points out instantly making his heart hurt, he didn't regret continuing their life of running scams and robbing stupid folks but some times he did think what if?

"Do you wish we did that instead?" He asks softly, his loving smile turning into a frown as he messes with the hem of Hosea's shirt that was originally his, Hosea could tell that he was nervously waiting for his response, Dutch always fidgeted when he was nervous

"A little but I don't regret continuing what we have a single bit" Hosea answers before he presses his lips against Dutch's forehead making him smile again

"Maybe in another universe, we could get married" Dutch mumbles letting out a sigh as he rolls onto his back now lying beside his partner, trying not to fall off the very small bed that they shared

"We can get married in this universe Dutch" he says with a huffed laugh as he sits up, his back cracking in the process from Dutch crushing him for the past hour

"Would you really marry me though?" He questions as he sits up and scoots in front of him

"Even though you're a pain in my ass most of the time, yeah I happily would" Hosea smiles, laughter escaping his lips once again before he leans forward and kisses Dutch, they still loved each other to death even through their rough patches over the years

"Would you like me to ask you properly instead of throwing the idea out there?" Dutch laughs as he pulls away and stands up

"Yeah I would like you to" he answers a smile never leaving his face as Dutch rummages through his things before he finds a ring that he stashed away forever ago

"Well then Mr Matthews, will you marry me?" He grins as he turns around and gets on one knee making Hosea giggle like an idiot

"Of course, I will" Hosea answers wrapping his arms around Dutch's neck the moment he's back on his feet

"I love you" Dutch whispers as he puts his arms around Hosea's waist, still clutching his husband's ring in his hand

"I love you too," he says back as he struggles to stand on his tippy toes before they let each other go

"I'll love you for the rest of my life" he promises as he places the ring on Hosea's finger and kisses his knuckles, which were bruised for some reason

"And I'll always love you back" Hosea sighs before he pulls his husband into another kiss.
