I headed to the Armory, where a conspicuous crate awaited me, adorned with my name. Grabbing a crowbar, I pried it open, unveiling a customized iteration of the Ranger Corps armor system. As I inspected the contents, my attention was drawn to a unique feature — the so-called "backpack" turned out to be a power pack designed to fuel my shield generator.

I carefully arranged all the components of the armor on the table, conducting a meticulous inspection to ensure no damage had occurred during transit. Fortunately, everything seemed to have weathered the journey without a scratch. However, the real challenge presented itself when I turned my attention to the power generator. Connecting it to the chest plate, I attempted to activate the shields. For a fleeting moment, the generator whirred to life, only to sputter, slow down, and eventually shut off.

I slammed the table, the loud bang reverberating through the room.

Me: "Damn it," I whispered in frustration.

???: "Est-ce que tout va bien? (Is everything alright?)" I heard from the doorway. A short-haired blonde woman with lightning scars tracing across her face peeked hesitantly from behind the door, a bit apprehensive from my outburst.

Me: "Je vais bien," I responded, attempting to convey that I was alright in French, though my words emerged somewhat broken with my Italian accent.

???: "You don't have to speak in French I can speak English just fine, Do you need some help. chère?" she asks emerging from the doorway and scuttling towards me "If you're okay with my help?"

Me: "The transport broke the generator for my armor," I explained, placing the malfunctioning generator on the table for her to inspect.

She retrieved a screwdriver from the toolkit, and together, we began disassembling the generator to conduct a diagnosis.

???: "I see the problem. Two of your energy cells are incompatible with your system. The majority of the energy your generator is creating is being absorbed by the cells and not being utilized. You need a better generator unit or a smaller cell."

Me: "Easier to upgrade the generator instead of buying an expensive plasma cell."

???: "You speak my mind exactly." She grinned. "Quite shocking that you have such advanced equipment in this backpack giggles shocking, get it?"

Me: "Heh, I get it." I smirked, finding her humor endearing and cute. I turned back to the generator. "All the parts in the generator, I made myself. I'm a combat engineer and technician from my unit."

Natalie: "You know, I'm a bit of a scientist myself," she joked, extending a hand. "Natalie Paquette, enchantée." She smiled sweetly, her thoughts betraying a silent admiration. 'He's so handsome,' she mused in her mind.

Me: "Y/N L/N."

Natalie: "Oh, you're the new guy. I'm glad I have someone to share my interests in electricity with. Viens, viens, let's fix your backpack, and do tell me how you made it, s'il vous plaît." Her legs crossed, hands behind her back, leaning forward as she spoke.
