Skully POV

The excitement in the air was palpable as Cubby and I fluttered over, eager to see what had Jake so hyped up. It had been two months since we cured Izzy, only for her to be trapped in a coma of some sort. But now, Jake sounded happier than he had in a while and my blonde matey and I wanted to see what it was all about. We entered the tiny room that once served as Cubby's home before we had started to rebuild the hideout and there we saw Izzy's awake and fully conscious form sitting up in the hammock. Cubby's jaw dropped and his eyes were wide as if he had just witnessed the birth of a new island. I couldn't believe it - after all this time, she was finally coming back to life!

"Blow me down! Izzy's waking up!" I chirped with joy as I flapped my wings. Cubby, equally ecstatic, rushed forward and practically tackled Izzy in a hug. And before I knew it, Jake and Peter joined in the embrace and I landed on the lass' shoulder and snuggled into the crook of her neck. Izzy, still groggy from her slumber, seemed a bit taken aback. Her confusion only deepened when we all bombarded her with hugs. After about thirty seconds she seemed to be getting a tad bit uncomfortable and shook her upper torso, prompting us all to back off and give the little lady her space. I began to notice there was something.....off with her eyes. They looked....lighter than usual. Pale. But Cubby and I simply shrugged it off. After all, we were too overjoyed to notice any unimportant small details like that.

"Oh Izzy it's you!" Cubby cheered. "It's really you!"

"Of course it's me!" she exclaimed, her voice laced with a mix of bewilderment. "What is wrong with you guys!?" the lass demanded, although she got no answer.

"You're awake! We missed you, Izzy!" I sang out loud. Izzy blinked, trying to make sense of the situation.

"Missed me?" she mirrored, absolutely dumbfounded. "Where was I?"

Jake exchanged a glance with Cubby, a touch of sadness in his eyes.

"You mean......," Jake started. "You mean you don't remember any of it?" he asked.

"Any of what?" she repeated before shoving a mountain of questions at us.. "Cubby, is that you? Where are we? Why does everything hurt? Most importantly, why can't I see anything!?" It was clear that Izzy had no memory of the events that led to her current state.

"What do you mean you can't see anything matey?" I asked. Peter flew over to us , his face full of urgency as if that question would earn us all a dagger through the heart if repeated one too many times. He cupped his hand over his mouth before whispering,

"She's blind you guys."

"Blind!?" Cubby and I repeated together.

"But how?" I questioned.

"We don't know." Jake answered. Evidently Peter's whisper was not as quiet as he intended it to be.

Izzy, feeling overwhelmed by what she assumed to be our major overreacting, decided she needed to assert some control over the situation. Despite not fully comprehending what horrible things had happened to her, she began to look a little agitated.

"Okay, okay, enough with the theatrics," she said, trying to brush off the boy's excessive excitement. "I'm not dead."

"Not anymore." Jake muttered. Luckily the lass didn't seam to hear. Izzy attempted to stand up, acting like her sight would just magically return in a few minutes, if not hours. However, her legs, weakened from disuse during her extended slumber, betrayed her, and she stumbled, nearly falling. In a flash, Peter and Cubby reacted, catching her and gently guiding her back to the hammock.
