Sophie

Sophie took a sip from her soup which tasted like watermelon and pineapples. An interesting combination, but it was good. "So..." Sophie said, downing the last drop, "I was thinking about registering for the match."

She had thought of the idea last night, the first time she tried it didn't go so well, but the matchmakers had changed the system since then. It would take her mind off Marella and maybe it was time. Fitz had gotten over her...mostly. Now it was time to try again, she really did want to believe she could have a normal life. A house, kids, maybe even a pet. The best thing was that the Neverseen were gone, there was no way they could take this away from her.

Grady spit out his coffee-or whatever black stuff was in his cup- "Again?!" Edaline grinned, "I think it's time!" Sophie nodded, "I think so too, I mean, nothing's stopping me this time!" Grady sighed, "I guess." "Oh come on," Sophie said, trying to share some of her enthusiasm, "Fitz is already registered, Bianna just got her packet, and Lihn and Tam are going tomorrow." Sophie had hailed Lihn and Bianna for assurance and they had supported her one hundred percent.

"We'll take you today," Edaline offered, setting down her fork. "How about after breakfast?" Grady added. Sophie grinned, "Great, I'll go get ready."

Sophie decided not to go all out with a gown this time and just wear a fancy tunic. She picked out an ice-blue tunic with little sparkly gems making a butterfly in the corner with light gray leggings and tall black boots. Then she followed Vertina's directions and twisted half of her hair back with a metal clip. She added mascara and lipgloss for makeup and then thanked Vertina and walked downstairs.

Grady and Edaline had just finished cleaning up the breakfast mess and were ready to go.

The nerves started to kick in once she entered the lobby, which was as busy as ever, and took her seat in the same shadowy corner. Edaline held her hand until a woman called, "Sophie Foster?"

It was a different lady than last time with soft blue eyes and a bright smile. Her hair was pulled back into a loose bun which she seemed to constantly try to fix. "Hi Sophie, I'm Lola," The lady said, "How are you?" Something about her made Sophie want to share everything but she just told her, "Good." Lola grinned, "Great, now if you'd just follow me..."

She led Sophie back through the doors she came and down the hall. "The match-making system was always flawed which was why I never wanted to be a match-maker, but after the changes the council made  I decided to join," Lola said, turning down a new hall. "They have a different way of doing things, you still get a packet and everything, but you don't need an ability or biological parents to register," Lola continued, "We just need your name and last name to register you, you get a packet, and then come back and turn it in when you're done filling it out. Ever since this change we've been getting a lot of talentless people, and they seemed so happy, I just got to experience my older sister register, and she thought her life was over when she found out she was talentless."

They turned into a bright office with pictures of people Sophie didn't know. "If you just need my name, why bring me back here?" Sophie asked. "Because your name is the main thing, but not the only thing, I'm going to ask you some questions and I want you to answer honestly." Sophie sat on her hands to prevent eyelash tugging, "Ok... what questions?" Lola gave her a bright smile, "Let me get a paper."

After Lola got a paper and a pen, she asked, "Who is closest to you? Not including parents." "Keefe," Sophie answered immediately. "Keefe Sencen?" Lola asked. Sophie nodded, "Yeah, why?" "I just registered him yesterday," Lola told her. "you did?" Sophie gasped, why hadn't Keefe told her?! Lola nodded and continued, "Have you had any past relationships?" "Sort of, I kind of had a thing with Fitz," Sophie answered, her mind still stuck on Keefe registering.  "Fitz Vacker?" Lola wondered. Sophie nodded, "Yeah, him." Lola smiled, "Great. Now, who was your first kiss, if you had one." Sophie blushed, "Uh, Dex Diznee, but it's not what-" "Wonderful," Lola interrupted, "What's your favorite color?"

The questions continued for about thirty minutes before she was given a match packet and told to come back when she was done.

Sort of confused, Sophie left back home with Edaline and Grady.

She needed to talk to Keefe.
