Your POV

Waking up, I give myself a few seconds to take in my surroundings and clear up my vision. After I realize that I'm alive, in my bedroom, I reach over to my nightstand and grab my phone to check the time, it was 5:30 AM. Rolling my eyes in annoyance, I reluctantly get up from my cozy, and warm bed with my pink covers and black bedsheets, heading for the bathroom.

In there, I slap myself a few times so I don't fall asleep on the literal floor and I continue to do my normal morning routine. Brush my teeth, wash my face, do some light makeup, and pull my hair back into a low bun.

I get dressed into my work outfit. A white blouse with a black flowing skirt and black heels to match. I am waitress at a place named 'Barry's Brilliant Bar' and I have to be honest, I hate the job. Since mostly men, specifically older men for a clear reason, come there, I always hate when I get unnecessarily cat - called, I mean honestly can a girl just work in peace?? And the stares I get from some of them when I serve their food, it is like I am a sweet snack there are dying to eat or something.

"Ooh, what a pretty little thing you are!"

It disgusts me but I have to oblige and just serve them anyway because that place is the only job I can easily walk to and back from my apartment and the only job in my town that pays a decent money wage to pay my rent.
And it is also an easy job, all I have to do is talk, serve and put on a fake smile.
There is also another reason why I haven't completely lost my energy. My co - worker, Ginger.

When I first applied, she was the one who gave me the job since she is the assistant manager. Ever since then, we have gotten pretty close and bonded with our similar problems with our obnoxious customers. With her brunette hair, cute nose, pretty lips, and pretty frame, she was a very beautiful girl so of course she has to endure just like me.

Once I got there, I was greeted by Ginger, who was working behind the bar, immediately with her gentle and kind smile.

"Hi, Y/N!"

"Hi, Ginger, how are you?"

"I'm okay, how are you?"

"I'm good, I'm good, thank you for asking, I'll be in the back if you need me at all!"

"Okay!"

I smile at her before I head into the crowded kitchen with chefs and servers scrambling around, I managed to make it to the locker room.
As I walked in, I was greeted by some of the other female waitresses. Some of them were fixing up their hair, showering and even just talking with one another. Ever since I was in middle school I've always considered spaces like this with just girls or women as a safe and comfortable one.
The girly things and girly conversations just lightened up my mood and always have made me smile.

After letting my hair down, and letting it breathe instead of suffocating it in a tight low bun, I said my goodbyes to my fellow girls and left.
Walking back into the kitchen, I get tapped on the shoulder and it's one of the chefs.

"Yes?"

"Here, take this and serve table eight."

"Oh okay."

I quickly take the plate out of his hand and head for the table. Once I get there, I carefully put down the food, it was a table full of men. They looked around their 20s or early 30s. They thanked me for the food but then all of them slowly looked at me up and down, in a very uncomfortable way. I awkwardly smiled replying with a nod before walking off. While walking off, I started to wonder why they looked at me like that, I mean I've have encounters with men like this before but..this was different. This was way more creepier, it was like a direct and silent pleasure in their eyes. But maybe I was just overthinking it and it was just them checking me out...yeah that had to be what they were doing..right?

After my shift, I decided to get a quick latte before heading home.

"Mmm! This latte tastes so good!"
I exclaimed as I grinned to myself.

Since it was close to winter, it was very dark out even though my phone told me it was only 6:00 pm in the afternoon. Walking down the quiet streets of my town, with a couple of cars driving by every 5 minutes and the only light sources being the giant lamps at the end of each sidewalk, I suddenly get the feeling somebody's close, watching. I shrugged it off, gaslighting myself into thinking it was probably just a stray animal near by in a bush.

Oh how very wrong I was....
