I regained consciousness the next morning, and I sat there alone on the same table I was built on. A memory continued to replay in my head, one that I had connection to for once. What I recalled was a song, the notes so gentle and sweet. A slow and peaceful song that rapidly grew in pace, becoming more of a hopeful tone. I hummed the tune aloud, feeling as though I were dancing along with my voice.
I smiled as I stood up from the table, still continuing to hum the tune. I walked through the house wandering around, I briefly stopped by the bathroom to look in the mirror. I wondered if Clementine fixed my face while she put me to sleep, and it seemed she did. My skin was smooth, completely without flaw. As I stared at my reflection, somehow I felt dissatisfied. The music stopped playing in my mind, and all I could think was about my appearance. Did I really look human? I didn't think so, everything was all wrong...
Ugly.
I messed around with my hair, trying to cover my face, but my hair also seemed out of place. My eyes were too big and my hair was too red. Everything was too much in every way, not at all realistic enough to fool anyone. I stayed there for a while, staring at my reflection with a frown. It took the meow of a little tiny kitty to bring me back to reality. I looked down at the bottom of the bathroom doorway, there was the little cat we saved meowing out at me. It looked a lot better now, so I was glad.
I bent down and picked up the cat, going to Clementine's kitchen to see what food was available. I opened a few cabinets and drawers, but I found the stockpile of edible food to be a bit small. I took out a loaf of bread I found, thinking I found something good, but it was moldy. I decided to go outside and try to find something there. I opened the front door and stepped outdoors. I put the cat down on the lawn and watched it run around.
I set out and began to forage, looking for something a cat could eat. Luckily for me my artificial memory was filled with cat facts, and knowledge of what they can and can't eat. Though I was concerned it might not work out in action, especially the moment I thought I found wild carrots... I pulled it up and what I received from the earth was garlic. Not a good start...
I plucked up a bit more wild garlic before finally finding a carrot. I ran back to the front of the house were the cat was laying on the ground. It's head perked up at my approach then it started walking toward me. It sat in front of me and looked up expectantly. I held the carrot to the cat's mouth and it began to munch on it.
"Where'd you get that?" Clementine asked, I turned around and found her standing behind me. She was wearing a black cloak with a hood over her head, in her right hand was a cloth sack. "I just went to town to buy groceries. Caesar hasn't been around, so I had to."
I dropped the carrot on the ground and stepped over to Minty, I took a peak inside the bag. Clementine reached up with her free hand and flicked me on the forehead.
"Ow! What was that for?"
"Just felt like it. Now hmm..." Clementine reached into the bag and took out a small cut of meat, "Let's feed the cat."
I nodded eagerly, taking the meat from Minty, I kneeled down next to the cat and held the food out. It sniffed it a coupled times before gobbling it up. I glanced at Minty and wondered, "Did you name it yet?"
"Hmm... How about you name her?" Clementine suggested, "You were the one who saved her."
"Ooh, it's a girl?" I smiled at this newfound information, "Then let's name her Lily."
"Lily..." Minty remained silent for a moment, a thoughtful look on her face, "It's Lily then."
I called out to the cat, "Lily! Come here!"
The cat didn't listen.
"Lily, come here." Clementine said, copying me. The cat didn't listen to her either. We both frowned at once, disappointed by the cat's clear lack of interest in it's saviors. Clementine dipped down and stealthily walked toward the cat, then picked her up. "It worked, see, she likes me more."
"Cheater! You picked Lily up. Not fair."
Clementine stuck her tongue out at me and waltzed into the house. I started to chase after but someone's voice stopped me. "I see Miss Galanthus is having a blast."
I turned and there I saw an chubby old human with greying hair and many forehead wrinkles. Next to him was Caesar, hiding behind the mans large build.
"Are you the romance writer?" I asked the man, his face scrunched up in annoyance.
He grumbled in a coarse and deep voice, "I see she's telling everyone already isn't she?"
"No, I don't think so. I believe she only told me and Caesar." I corrected him, now wanting him to be upset at my friend.
The man stomped foreword. "I'm going to have a word with that girl." His giant feet thudded against the ground as he approached the house. He forcefully kicked the front door open as I followed him inside watching as Caesar trailed closely behind him.
(Authors Note: Sorry I am no longer working on this! It was hard to keep interest in this story, especially since I wasn't fully motivated to make it from the start. I been looking for a story to tell, but this isn't it.)

Aster (Hiatus)
General FictionAster is a story of an 'automaton', a creation made by a girl named Clementine. Concept is here though minimal, but I'm no longer working on this. Just lost interest in it. Tends to happen with me.
