Loxodonta here and this isn't a story. You may have read my works, but what you may not know is that I've been an artist from early childhood. Figured it's time you all saw what I do in my free time. Hope y'all enjoy!
I can't believe it's taken me so long! Here's one that is long overdue, and one that I'm particularly proud of: the star of the story Of Raptors and Kratts, Amber the Velociraptor! Amber is a semi-OC, as she is the baby raptor we see hatching in the original Jurassic Park, but later grows up under the love and care of the Wild Kratts team who became her found family. Due to her upbringing, her personality isn't exactly what one would typically expect from her kind; she's very playful, curious (like many highly intelligent animals), compassionate, caring, and loving to friends. But don't let her docile nature fool you; when push comes to shove, she can be very dangerous to her enemies and would not hesitate to use lethal force. In addition to the frog DNA that she and the other InGen dinosaurs have, Amber also has bits of chameleon genomes that give her the ability to change color. (the idea of Amber being able to change color was inspired by the first JP book by Michael Crichton where a wild raptor named Clarence had that trait.) But like real chameleons, it's mostly triggered by emotions and temperament rather than camouflage. Like the rest of her kind, Amber is a highly intelligent animal with an IQ comparable to dolphins and chimpanzees, and one of the few creatures to pass the mirror test. And for her first hatch-day, Aviva gifted her with the Creature Thought Translator (CTT), a device modified to read the brainwaves of the animal who wears it, then translates the thoughts into English (or any chosen language) using the digital voice.
