Awkward

Gryffindor Tower was unusually quiet for the weekend. Allegra sat near the roaring fire as the wind howled beyond the large window. For the most part, the older Smith Twin ignored the other students both older and younger passing through the common room. She ignored their conversations and the few brave enough to offer a friendly hello. Instead, she focused on discovering what the Marauders were up to, so much so that she had decided against going to Hogsmeade with everyone else.

Surrounding the determined third-year muggle-born were books from the library, some parchment, quill, ink, and Isolde's diary. She had taken her twin's diary with the hopes Isolde knew something and had written about it as the younger Smith twin wrote about everything else that happened during her days at Hogwarts. At the same time, Allegra hoped to find some of her sister's secrets, if only so she could use them at a later date, or have them in her artillery for when the time came she needed a weapon against her younger twin and her friends.

"What are you doing?" came a squeaky voice from the portrait door, instantly Allegra turned her attention to the voice, grabbing the diary to stash away before Peter had a chance to register what she had and question her. Soon enough the voices of James, Sirius, and Remus could be heard, as could Marlene, (Y/N), and Isolde's. All of them laughing about something and too wrapped up in their own conversation to truly care about what was happening around them.

"Oh, careful there (Y/N)" spoke Sirius as (Y/N) tripped down the step from the portrait door. He'd caught her, although his cheeks soon began to heat up again, as his mind went blank. As normal (Y/N) thanked him before grabbing his hand and pulling him over to their shared friends, seemingly oblivious to the effect she had on him. The moment the pair joined the conversation turned to the upcoming Quidditch match. Slytherin vs the reigning Quidditch Cup holders, Ravenclaw. Isolde had offered to take the things Marlene and (Y/N) had brought from Hogsmeade up to their dorm. Neither of them noticed the concern written across Allegra's face, even more so when the older Smith twin, had left Isolde's bunk and things in a mess, as she wrongly assumed she would have plenty of time to throw everything in trunks to make it seem like nothing was wrong.

"So Legs, wotcha been doing while we were all nosing around Hogsmeade?" asked James, casually turning attention to Allegra, who immediately tried to act like nothing out of the ordinary, instead hiding behind her stack of books, like she was trying to catch up on the things she had neglected since attending the school.

"Don't call me that" harshly responded Allegra, sending a glare James' way in an effort to sway him from repeating the nickname. "Trying to bring my witchy skills up to the expected standard for a third year, perhaps even surpass the expectation" lied the young teenager, finding it annoying how her sister could so easily find her place in the wizarding world, pick things up with little trouble and find enjoyment out of the experience of brewing potions and casting spells, learning about the magical world around them. Even more so when Allegra herself struggled with basic spells, just about managed to brew potions without something blowing up, and was still yet to find friends she truly gelled with.

"(Y/N), Marlene!" called Isolde from the balcony leading to the dorms. "Have either of you seen my diary? It's not in the draw where I left it" asked the muggle-born witch, concern appearing on her feature. The matching pen was where she left it, but the little ordinary notebook had vanished. She knew deep down whoever had taken it had purposely gone looking for it, considering her books were thrown across her bed, her stuffed dragon was thrown across the room and her clothes were all over the place.

"Expecto Patronum" loudly chanted Allegra, as if attempting to ignore the obvious, while also looking down at the spell book she had picked up to cover her tracks. Peter was the only one to look accusingly at Allegra, as he put two and two together and realized what the muggle-born was trying to hide when they entered the common room moments prior.
