Silver's alone one day of the month every month, the 21st. Why they leave him alone is still beyond me, but hey, I'm just a humble narrator.
This time, Amy's out shopping for Christmas gifts with Cream, Sonic's defeating Egghead and one of his dumb schemes, and Blaze has her book club every Thursday. Bored, he decided to explore the living space a bit more thoroughly. As he wandered through the rooms, he stumbled upon a door he hadn't noticed before. A room that was placed meticulously behind a long mirror, which is in Amy's room.
Curiosity got the better of him as Silver opened the door to find a room filled with books—Amy's secret private library in progress. Amy's library is a hidden gem within the apartment, tucked away behind an unassuming door. As Silver opens the door, he steps into a cozy and enchanting space that houses Amy's love for literature and her fondness for quiet moments of contemplation, one that she and Blaze sometimes share together. A gleam of mischief sparkled in his eyes as he perused the shelves. A coffee table sits in the middle and a hanging hammock-rope chair sits on the far left corner, surrounded by books and more books. Their leather spines are all bound by pages and pages of knowledge and string holding them together.
The room is surrounded with dark maroon walls, a color he wasn't expecting to see from her. White, soft, ambient lighting emanates from golden floor lamps. A comfortable reading nook, complete with plush cushions and a cozy blanket, occupies one corner. The air carries a faint scent of vanilla in the automatic diffuser set on a schedule, creating a soothing atmosphere.
The shelves are specifically organized and hold a diverse collection of books, ranging from classic literature to adventure novels, and even some Sonic the Hedgehog comic books. Most of the issues are on the shelves, while one or two are framed, the covers that feature her and Sonic, of course. A small area of books with a sign named "Fanfiction" sparks his interest and he raises an eyebrow before walking over and grabbing the note in front of him. A messy cursive penmanship is written out in front of him and it reads:
Dear Amy Rose,
I can't believe I'm writing to THE Amy Rose! My friends and I wrote some fanfiction about you and your friends! We know that you love literature and we wanted to send some of our favorite works that we've read or wrote! We hope you enjoy and embark on a whole new journey of adventures to read and have on your own.
Signed,
Cassidy the Squirrel
He sets the letter down. Bunches of books are covered in pink and blue, which he believes are that of Sonic and Amy. An apocalypse book strikes his interest, it's called Stranded. Hmm, what a curious title. There's one in white and purple that reads "Blazing Princess," and it has Blaze the Cat on the cover. This one catches his eye really fast, as he wonders who in their friend group do most people ship with the Sol Princess anyways. A bright one, isn't he.
Running his fingers down the rows of books, he notices some are broken up with small decorative items, like framed pictures of Amy's friends and small potted plants, adding a personal touch. One has all four roommates in it from when they went to the fair, one with Blaze and her at a coffee shop, one where she is laughing at Silver himself for falling into a pond, one with Rouge where they're seen at the mall, one with Cream and Vanilla and a batch of cookies, one with her idol, Honey the Cat, and they're doing Honey's signature pose, then there's one with Knuckles and Tails with Knckles's arm resting on Amy's head, much to her dismay, and her arm rests around Tails's shoulders. The final picture, one that he would like to take a mental note of, is one of her and Sonic sharing a tender kiss. A perfect picture, to be exact, one where they're standing in front of a beautiful blooming cotton-candy-colored sakura tree in the peak of the spring season in front of a pink and yellow sunset. Suspicious...
A desk with an antique lamp sits near a window, giving a perfect spot for Amy to write down her thoughts or work on her latest projects. A small journal sits in the top drawer, but Silver never got to see that. A very small window is framed with flowing curtains that allow just the right amount of sunlight to filter through, creating a calming ambiance. In one corner, there's a bookcase with a collection of rare and ancient texts she excavated from different caves in her past. As Silver explores this hidden gem of the apartment, he can't help but appreciate the careful curation of Amy's secret library, though an unintended book avalanche he created threatens to disrupt the peaceful order that Amy has carefully maintained.
Silver, being somewhat clumsy with his psychokinetic abilities, accidentally knocked over a stack of books, causing a chain reaction. Books fell like dominos, creating chaos in Amy's carefully organized space. Just as Silver realized the magnitude of the mess he had made, Amy and Blaze returned to the apartment, only knowing it was in the secret library from the large sound it made. Amy's eyes widened at the sight of her disrupted library, and Blaze raised an eyebrow, looking at Silver with a mix of amusement and mild irritation.
"Silver! What are you doing in my secret library?!" Amy exclaimed, a mix of frustration and surprise in her voice.
Silver stammered, "I didn't mean to! I was just exploring, then I found it, then things got out of control."
Blaze chimed in, trying to diffuse the tension, "Well, it looks like Silver found your secret library, Amy. Secret no more, I suppose."
Amy sighed, realizing the humor in the situation, "Well, the secret's out. Let's clean this up together, and next time, maybe ask before snooping around."
As they worked together to restore order to the library, Amy couldn't help but smile at the absurdity of the situation. The incident became a shared joke among the roommates, and even a picture came out of it. Sonic comes home and rushes around it, picking up as many books as he can, and steals a peek at the picture of him and Amy, remembering that time like it was yesterday.
