005// Pre-School festival

"hey saiki!" Y/n called from down the hall as she walked besides hairo, She threw him a wave as he turned. The two quickly jogged up.

Hairo walked up besides saikis left side while Y/n stood on his right. "Did ya know when humans sleep, we produce about 300 milliliters of sweat." hairo said randomly while saiki continued to walk forward unbothered

'and your telling me this why?' saiki couldn't help but to think at the sudden random fact.

Y/n felt a sweat drop scratching her cheek nervously "Well saiki, the sports festival is coming up..." she brought up

hairo nodded as he finished her sentence "we are building the entrance, and it's rough even for the two of us. it's almost done but we just need to connect the base to the arch." he said sliding the classroom door open "so could you help-"

Saiki didn't want to help, he only felt obligated because he owed Y/n one for the ice cream at the beach. He hated being in debt.

anyways a awkward silence took over the three as they seen one of bases had completely collapsed snapping in half.

"WHAT HAPPENED!?" Y/n shouted in disbelief watching her hard work just disappear

Hairo's eyes widen in shock as well as his jaw dropped as he ran to the pedestal "THE BASE" saiki used his index fingers to shield his ears from the shouts as the two (mostly hairo) tried to motivate broken base.

'you can't motivate inanimate object' saiki thought as hairo screamed in the background for it to not give up 'Good grief this is more then we can fix together, im going home.' he thought as he began to turn his back

a hand was placed on his should gently "wait saiki!" Y/n shouted furrowing her brows "We can try our best! and finish before the last train. but i understand if you don't want to stay it's a lot of work.." she said the last part softly understanding the sudden position he was put in.

Saiki felt his body slump a bit as his mind fuzzed up "fine."was the only thing he said causing the two idiots to cheer

"thanks saiki! i owe you one" Y/n said patter his shoulder with a smile as the three began to get to work

her and hairo began to cut the wood roughly and quickly while saiki began to assemble the planks off to the side

"NO! how can this happen!? we don't have enough materials!" hairo cries out causing Y/n to snap out of her thoughts as she finished sawing the last piece of wood "I'll go get some more!" hairo said brightly clenching his fist

'just give up' saiki had his back turned to the enthusiastic guy.

"Saiki, Keep up the good work! You and Y/n got this!" without letting Y/n have a chance to speak he ran off out the door

Y/n stared at saiki who seemed displeased with these facts. He was crouched on the floor working on his stuff and Y/n crouched besides him

"can i join you? i think we will finish faster if we work together." Y/n said as she began to cut equally sized rectangles of wood as she cut the wood saiki placed it evenly on a plank.

"you know, if you wanna leave it'll be totally fine right?" Y/n spoke stopping for a moment to stare at saiki "i understand and so will hairo you probably have stuff to do" he looked back at her forcing his eyes to the ground shaking his head "no i'll stay" those words cause her to grin excitedly as she began to saw the wood

he mentally sighed at the silence, he wasn't used to talking to people. But talking to Y/n felt nostalgic and something small he missed. "do you have anything to do?" he spoke up causing the girl to gleam a bit at the fact he was sparking a conversation

"nope! harios my only friend" she said beginning to help saiki nail down the plank "it gets pretty quite in my household, this is just a breath of fresh air for me" she spoke honestly not letting the smile falter

They in fact where opposites entirely, his house was loud noises, he was quiet and reserved and didn't want to make friends but people were drawn to him.

"Do you get lonely?" this question was out of character for saiki even if he knew the answer.

Y/n finished banging the last nail before softly turning to saiki inhale a deep breath before speaking "honestly? it does, i had a rough time in primary school especially for a kid it left some permanent issues with me socializing."

That's all saiki needed to hear, To hear how his mistake really affected her not only physically but mentally and felt a 'small' amount of guilt for not taking it to consideration.

the two sat across one another, saiki sat on a small wooden box while Y/n sat across from him sitting on the ground as they had completed using all the remaining wood

"sorry for asking" saiki said staring down at his book that laid open in his lap

She tilted her head staring up at him "don't be sorry, actually this is the most i've talked to someone who isn't hairo! and i'm enjoying your company!" She said reaching out to roughly patting his shoulder

that was the first time he's heard that.

Y/n chatted to saiki who mostly responded with nods or short sentences, which she didn't mind because he was genuinely listening to her words which made her happy.
