Chapter 9- The End of the Beginning

Everleigh's POV

I woke up to bright lights and a sobbing Eggsy. Roxy was next to him comforting him while Merlin stood in the corner thinking. I saw Kate rush in and hug Eggsy. Thomas was not far behind her. They all stood by my bedside looking at me. But why can't they see I'm awake? I tried getting up and I could but then I turned and saw. My body was still lying on the bed. And I am not in a hospital gown. I'm wearing the clothes I wore the day of the explosion. I have to go find Jack. As soon as I thought about him my heart ached. I walked through the open door to my room and down the hall looking in doors trying to find him. I kept walking with no avail. I snuck into an elevator with a nurse. She was going down to the ICU. Before the doors opened she said "sweetie I know your spirit is here. Try bed 7" I stood there for a second awestruck. Then I rushed out in search of bed 7. I found it eventually and what I saw was terrifying. Jack's family was around him. His mom was crying and so was his dad. I looked over the doctors shoulder so I could see his chart. There were so many things on it.

Injuries

Broken femur

Fractured radius and ulna

Torn ACL

Torn meniscus

Shrapnel in shoulder and back

Fractured disc in lower back

Observations:

Looks like patient Jack Meier took the brunt of injuries to guard girlfriend (patient Everleigh Unwin). Cause of injuries bomb planted in Hyde Park.

On the table next to his bed I saw a small open velvet box with a note next to it. There was a beautiful diamond and sapphire ring on it. The note said:

"My dear Evie,

We have known each other for more than two years and I love you with all my heart. Ever since the first moment I heard you singing I knew you were the one for me. Then once we got to know each other it just got better and better." There was blood covering the next section.

"I want to spend the rest of my life with you. With our crazy jobs but I am crazy about you.

I love you so much.

-Jack"

I started crying right there. He was going to propose to me! He has to make it through this! I have to wake up! I don't know how much time I have spent next to his hospital bed. However many days later I woke up to a commotion. I saw them begin to move the bed. His parents seemed so relieved. Was he being moved to a normal room? The doctor began to tell his parents what was happening. They were moving to him! They were moving him to my room! I followed the bed as they took him upstairs. Once they did and he was safely in the room with his parents explaining to my family. I decided to lay back down in my bed to sleep.

Eggsy's POV

It seemed so quick. Jack was wheeled into the room and just as the doctor and his nurses were leaving a beeping came from Evie's machine. The medical staff all crowded around her yelling. One went to go get a crash cart and another went to get another doctor. They shocked her seemingly lifeless body. Then one yelled "WE GOT A BEAT" Then everyone in the room let out a collective breath. The nurse put some more sedative in her IV so Ev wouldn't wake up to quickly. About 4 days later I was holding her hand and felt a little squeeze. I looked up to see her trying to open her eyes and I yelled for a doctor.
