It has been a year since I've been out of the hospital. Today I am going to school. The thought of it makes me excited.

I stayed in the hospital for three years. The doctors said that my body had gone through shock and shut down because a lot of my bones broke so I basically missed three years of my freaking life. Pure joy.

I had a tutor while I was in the hospital and was homschooled by multiple tutors for the rest of the year. Since I was so smart I caught up on almost everything but not French classes.

I really tried but everything was mixing up with all of the tenses. Honestly, why is there 10 thousand tenses it's not freaking normal. I don't know how French people do.

Anyways, I caught up on almost everything in no time. Not to sound cocky but the definition of brains and beauty is me.

There was this girl in the room next to mine in the hospital. I saw her while I was on a walk and we started talking. She was my age, well the age that I was physically(13) and she was also African, just like me. Her name was Imani, meaning faith, and she really gave me some.

My parents had given me a phone to call them if I needed something while they were at work, do we exchanged numbers and I would text Mini anytime I was free.

She taught me some slangs, and trends. So thanks to her, it wouldn't cross your mind that I was in a coma for three years.

Now all that is left is for me to pick my outfit for tomorrow. My first day in an American school. Since I was in high school here, I had to step up my game. My first day of high school but I was gonna make sure everyone knew who Diore Nissi was.

Unfortunately, Mini and I weren't going to the same school so I was gonna have to socialize and meet new people. That didn't scare me since I was so friendly but I wished she was with me still.

I called Imani because I didnt have anything to wear.

After a while, I showed her my clothes and we found an outfit that was okay I guess. It was simple yet cute and stylish. Ok I admit it, I loved it. Imani knew me so well after only a year of friendship I loved her so much.

We kept chatting for an hour or two about my day tomorrow and her friends that she promised I would meet which kinda made me excited. I haven't met them because my parents were too overprotective this year. We also just stayed with each other while she was doing her homework and I was studying. That was until her dad called her and we said our goodbyes.

I now only had to get ready mentally to face the day of tomorrow without my best friend. My only friend.

I was laying on my bed,  watching some YouTube shorts on my phone when I heard a basketball playing outside.

I got up to look out from my window but my mom called me for dinner.
