A door opened and footsteps approached. Vienna took her eyes off Nick and turned to look at the door. There were whispers between the two soldiers. Once they were done, they got up and left.
Travis and Vienna took this opportunity as they moved to Nick. Vienna sat beside him and turned her head to look at him, her pale green eyes looking at him softly. "Nick". She whispered.
Nick smiled softly as he placed a bloody hand on her cheek. "Your mother and sister are here. They took them somewhere else". Travis whispered. Nick looked at him for a moment, his hand dropping from Vienna's face.
"Chris?" Nick asked.
Travis looked up at the ceiling, a look of distress on his face. Vienna looked down at her hands, her jaw tightening.
"They do this to her?" Travis asked.
"At the crossing. We were ambushed". Nick answered.
The woman looked up. "Did you see anyone at the border?" She asked.
"Just the dead". Vienna replied.
"I saw this place, I thought it was a refugee camp". Nick muttered.
"You couldn't have known. We didn't". Travis whispered. "Thought the patrol was military until they were on top of us".
Vienna turned her head as the door opened. A soldier had walked back in, placing something on a shelf, before walking out.
"You came looking for me?" Nick asked.
"I had too". Travis replied. "I'm taking you to your mother and I'm getting us out of here. All of us". Travis muttered.
Vienna didn't know how long they had been in there, if it was minutes or hours. Nick had his eyes shut, his arm around Luciana. Travis was looking up at the ceiling, the group now silent.
Vienna's head shot up as she heard whistling. Her eyes met her fathers, the two of them had taken interest.
"All right, what do we got?" A man asked.
"Hey boss". A second man replied. "He went down at 16:15. Knucklehead here took two shots to do it. He's got the blubber on him". Vienna had learned that this was Willy as she studied his voice.
Vienna frowned, her body leaning forwards, in a way of trying to hear what was being said.
"How do you shoot a guy at point blank range and take two to put him down?" A third man asked.
"Ah, he's a big man, I get it". The first man said.
"Venga, Venga, Venga, Venga, Venga". He muttered.
"Troy". The third man spoke.
Troy, Vienna thought. So that was his name. The 'Boss'.
"Oh I know Blake, I got eyes". Troy muttered.
"16:15". Vienna muttered.
Travis frowned as he looked at his daughter. "What?" He whispered.
"16:15....that's the man we saw when we passed to get in here". Vienna whispered. A smallfrown formed on her face as she looked down at her hands as she drowned out what was being said.
The door opened and caused Vienna to get out of her thoughts. She first saw boots as they stopped in front of them. She slowly looked up, her eyes finding army clothing. Her eyes landed on a young man, who was near enough the same age as her, maybe a few years older.
His eyes where only on Travis, a smirk on his face.
"You're Travis?" He asked.
Vienna watched as he father stood up, her head shaking.
"Are you mexican?" The man asked. Vienna guessed that this was the 'boss'...Troy.
"No". Travis answered.
"Persian?" Troy asked.
"No" Travis once again answered.
Vienna looked at her father and then Troy. "We're Maori". Vienna snapped, her eyes blazing as she looked at Troy.
Troy looked down at Vienna, a small smirk on his face. "Oh...Polynesian. That's some warrior stock. Did you have some contact back home before comms failed?" He asked as he walked closer to Travis.
"No". Travis muttered, his head shaking slighlty.
"Oh, shame. New Zealand's isolated. I just thought, uh......maybe your people, maybe they dodged all this. Maybe they turn out differently or not at all. Eh, could have learned something. We may still". Troy muttered.
"Where's my mom and my sister?" Nick asked.
Troy looked down at Nick, no expression on his face. "Being processed". Troy replied.
"Don't hurt them". Nick said.
"Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey ease your mind. I'm not a savage". Troy said.
Whilst Vienna let out a sarcastic laugh, Travis said. "That's..that's good to hear. This woman needs attention". His head pointing to Luciana. He caught eyes with his daughter, his head shaking.
"Yeah, she'll be taken care of". Troy replied.
"No, she is dying. She needs help". Vienna said, her eyes blazing at Troy.
"Everyone here dies. It's the only mercy I can offer, for the sick and the maimed". His head pointed to Luicana.
"Now you can take a seat". Troy muttered. When Travis didn't sit, a gun was pointed at him.
"Is that was you said to him? 16:15". Vienna asked as Troy turned his back to her. He turned for a moment, a smirk on his face. He walked out and seconds later two soldiers came in, grabbing Vienna.
"Let her go". Travis and Nick both shouted.
Vienna turned her head to look at him, her eyes wide. She knew she had now fucked up.
