Akutagawa has never smiled in his life, and he was determined to keep it that way. Even if he did manage to crack one, nobody would believe it or pretend they didn't see. He works for the Port Mafia alongside Chuuya.

Akutagawa's POV:

I am walking down the streets of Yokohama. All seems peaceful, and my mood lifts from grumpy to slightly less grumpy. I hear distant calls of children playing with one another, and for a moment, a strange part of me wonders if I could've been one of them. Weak. I shake my head in shock and disbelief. How did I even think of that? But my thoughts meander drowsily regardless of what my conscious mind decides as I stroll back into the agency. I wonder what it would be like to live in the city and if I didn't have an ability...

"Good morning, Akutagawa-senpai!" Higuchi greets me with a bow, the words spilling out of her mouth faster than a Japanese bullet train. I give her the smallest of nods as I walk by, and I can feel her happy energy bounce up an octave. It always makes me wonder how one could be so energetic, especially after a night patrol or a late mission. Unfortunately, I tended to get those a lot more than most in the Port Mafia.

As I walked through the hallway, Mori's voice calls to me, and I stop in my tracks to tip my head back to listen. "Akutagawa, you may take a break off tomorrow. I have-" his voice cuts off as small footsteps patter into his room from a different door. I know who that is, so I continue walking to my room as Elise starts getting flattered with Mori's compliments.

The next day, I run into Chuuya. He seems distracted, his fingers tapping listlessly against a clipboard clutched tightly in his hands. But as I prepare to walk by him, his head snaps up.

"Just who I was looking for," he seems pleased at this, "I have a mission to invade this building right here, and with another person, I can complete this in two minutes." He jabs his finger violently at void-black building. I shrug nonchalantly. Why not? I don't have anything else to do

A minute later, Chuuya is absolutely rocking the car. He swerves to the left of the road and nearly hits the traffic light. Then he speeds past the red light and accidentally drives the car halfway into the sidewalk. I sit there silently, determined not to move an inch. But as the car flew into the air for a solid three seconds, I gave up.

"Here we are," Chuuya unbuckles, and now I am standing in front of the obsidian building in Chuuya's clipboard. I would ask him why we're here, but considering the fact that he drank approximately two whole bottles of wine last night, I let it go and raised my head to capture the shiny glint of sunlight reflected off of its perfect walls. Little did I know that I would be meeting an old enemy and a suicidal man within the walls of that forbidding structure.

Atsushi is a bright 18 year-old boy (or were tiger, as a certain person would say). He works for the Armed Detective Agency under Dazai and Kunikida.

Atsushi's POV:

"And we read all the way down here- there it is. 'Strange Obsidian Building' contains priceless treasure within walls guarded by high-tech animatronics and heavily armed ability users. Planned robbery on February 13th." I study the sheet in Dazai's hands as he read the top sentence.

File folder 19:

Rumor has it that the building contains a priceless artifact with mysterious powers granted to you upon claiming it and taking it out of the building. Walls are assumed to stem the power of the artifact. Suspected robbery date on February 13th.

Last updated: February 5th.

I frown upon it, until I notice that Dazai has planted a mirror in front of my face and created a fishbowl effect on my face. He bursts into a hearty laugh, elbowing me until I join in too. We are both cackling like witches together.

Suddenly, his expression sobers, and I tense to prepare for the bad news.

"Well, we still have 5 days. Why don't we catch a break?"
