Chapter 6:

Stand Up

Chapter 6 of OL

~~Nevaeh~~~

The three of us got to work on Troublesome Trio immediately. Well, immediately meaning three days later, since that was the only day Ashley could be with us.

"Here," I handed Ali my notebook to look at, knowing Ashley had already read all of my songs.

"You wrote all of this?" Ali asked quietly, flipping the pages one by one.

"Yeah," I blushed. "I'm still editing them. And they're all kind of suckish at the moment, but I think I'm improving!"

"They all seem so... Angry."

"Yeah. When I'm mad is usually when I come up with my better song ideas," I laughed.

"I like them," she smiled.

"Ok, so first of all, lets all just work on one song, and perfect it," Ashley said.

I nodded, sitting down at my piano. "Ok, so... Instrument music wise, I have a teeny bit written for this song." I pointed to It Falls Away.

"Cool, let's try that one then!" Ali said.

Ashley and I both had all of my songs memorized, so we let Ali hold the book and I started playing my keyboard.

"It falls away! Everything! Even music will not help me..." We sang together.

The first couple tries failed, but as we kept practicing the slight tension that had been floating around the room eased, and our voices seemed to blend almost perfectly.

"You were too late to catch... My... Fall..." We ended.

There was a clapping noise from the doorway, and we all spun around to see Greyson standing there.

"What are you doing here?!" We asked in unison.

"What was that you guys were singing? I don't think I've heard it before," he came and sat at my feet, looking around at the three of us innocently without answering our question.

There was silence for a moment, then Ashley spoke up. "Nevaeh wrote it!"

I shot Ashley a look.

"Really?"

I nodded.

"It sounded great! I love it! Except..." He stood up and tapped a couple keys on my piano. "In the chorus where you say, 'do not care where I'm going now', instead of playing this..." He played exactly what I had played without even thinking about it. "I think you should do this." He played something that sounded 10 times more like the actual tune I had been hoping for, and it sounded fuller and more like an actual song.

"How did you do that?" Ali asked him.

"Do what?"

"Play exactly why Nevaeh played without having even seen her fingers?"

He shrugged, smiling. "Hey do you guys have any plans tomorrow night?"

"Nope," Ali said.

"I don't think so," Ashley pulled out her iPhone, checking her Calendar.

"What about you Nevaeh?" Greyson asked hopefully.

"I'm not sure. Tomorrow's Tuesday... Depends what time. Why?" I played with my R5 pick necklace.

"Alexa and Tanner want to have a movie marathon, and they said I could invite you."

"Wonderful way to spend their time on a tropical island, there..." Ashley muttered.
