Sejanus Plinth expected to see Lucy Gray Baird singing her heart out when he entered The Hob with his close friend, Coriolanus Snow. What he didn't expect to see was the spritely little figure dancing next to her in a tri-colored skirt and boots. From the moment he set foot into The Hob Sejanus was enamored. The vision onstage was full of life. Their hair was a rich brown, the short choppy layers pulled back into a messy updo that was topped with a large black feather. And their eyes. Their eyes were like glittering diamonds, shining sweetly through the hot air. He froze in place watching as they danced with abandon. It was a type of dancing he had never seen before and all he wanted to do was be swept up in the never-ending tornado of colors and joy that was the little dancer onstage. As the music died down, so too did the actions of the dancer, until finally they settled in place next to Lucy Gray, taking a bow, and grinning the same grin that she did. This, Sejanus thought, must be a relative of Lucy's. The resemblance was striking, but even more striking were the differences between the two. Sejanus didn't even noticed Coriolanus slipping away from him, he was too enamored by the colorful figure that stepped up to the microphone holding Lucy's guitar as Lucy exited the stage.
"I'm sure y'all remember me! But just in case, I'm Crow Calamine, and this song was written about a very special, and annoying boy."
Sejanus found himself chuckling at the way Crow's, and that was their name he knew now, Crow, mouth twisted around the word annoying. They seemed so defiant. All Sejanus could do was listen and watch. Their voice washed over him, paralyzing him. It was beautiful. Rich and husky, soft yet strong, warm and comforting but with a sharp edge.

"He froze your heart and left it on an empty hearth, but he couldn't take your spark away from you!"

It wasn't just the way they sang that drew him in though. It was the words themselves. Sejanus was intrigued.

"Remember who you were born to be. A songbird, a lover, an original symphony"

The word songbird made Sejanus wonder if perhaps the girl in the song was Lucy Gray herself. Although he didn't know Crow Calamine's relationship to Lucy Gray it was clear the two were close. Sejanus closed his eyes as he took in the last notes of the song.

"You're a goddess, a fairy, a beauty unnerving, and he is nothing more than he will ever be~"

A soft sigh escaped his lips and he reached up to wipe a tear from his eye. There was something so powerful about this small, young, beautiful person and Sejanus was drawn to them. He had to meet them. He watched them get off the stage and disappear into the crowd. Without hesitation, Sejanus steeled himself, muttered some 'excuses me's', and began pushing through, following the brightly colored beauty through The Hob.
