Adhrit
My hands trembled as I tried to write down my memories. I thought of ways how I could tell Kavya about my past but everytime I tried to speak to myself in the mirror I choked.
I choked and tears suddenly flowed like waterfall.
For the past twelve hours when Kavya was at the hospital with Vishwa and Dhyaan's family, I was at home trying to muster up my courage.
That's when I remembered what Maaji told me.
Write it down!
I took a diary and started writing everything down, and just as I expected, my hands shook and my eyes watered more.
But I didn't stop.
I had to win my Kavya back.
I had to win my chaandni back.
I wrote and wrote. The guilt of all these years kept inside was splashed across the pages.
After 3 hours I had finished up the diary with everything.
How my mom loved Lord Vishnu and why she named me after him. About the trishul pendant she loved and gave it to me on her deathbed as she died in the public hospital because there was no money at home for her treatment.
How my dad was an alcoholic gambler who ruined my mother's life.
How he sold her body everyday as if it was his to own.
How he removed his frustrations on me and hit me for being fat thinking I finished all the food at home when there was actually nothing cooked.
How he was out to sell a small baby to an old man to make his sex slave when she grows up.
How I begged him not do that.
How he didn't listen.
How he hit me more and I kicked me in my jaw.
How I picked up an iron chair and slammed it across his body.
How his head got hit.
How he bled.
How the blood was on my hands while I tried to wake him up.
How the old man ran away.
How I picked up Vishwa with blood on my hands and ran.
How I suffered and begged on the streets while trying to protect my baby sister.
How I landed a job and started to go to school to be a big man like my mom wanted me to be.
How I fell in love with cooking.
How I took care of Vishwa and learned to braid.
How I got to go a huge Holi festival near the famous Mahadev temple and worked with the dhaba people behind so nobody would catch a kid working.
