I stood in the battle field. Nothing was in my way now. Not even my wife, Queen Pardon. She had been resistant to entering the war with me and in the end I gave up and let her stay behind. Perhaps that was a good choice?

Queen Sage was standing next to me, her gaze was full of pride. She really thought she could win this one, huh?

One of her assistants that I can't remember the name of, suddenly materialized out of no where.

"Your winglessness, I have news to share", his voice was squeaky.

"What is it?" Sage's voice was trembling. And her noble stance was falling.

"We heard from an.. external party that the Backstabbers are doing what they're best at", he announced. I narrowed my eyes. I hadn't told my soldiers to attack yet.

"Isn't that a good thing?" Sage glanced at me.

"They're backstabbing us by joining the army of Screeching Claws. They're not on our side!"

Queen Sage turned her head in the blink of an eye. "You what?", why would she believe him?

There was no going back, "Do what you're best at!" I half yowled and half roared to my soldiers. My voice rang across the moors. The war was about to begin.

Suddenly, I yelped when I felt something thump on my side. Was Queen Sage attacking me? What an absolute moron! No, she wasn't. It was four little hatchlings! Hatchlings! I squirmed around, trying to slap them off. They wouldn't leave me alone. I howled for helped, but no one came. Where do your loyalties lay? I wanted to screech, but I needed all my energy to get rid of these nuisances.

I turned and jumped and shook but their little talons were dug deep in my scales. Suddenly I realized I had seen these dragonets before. Some time ago, they came to me and asked if I would rethink about entering the war but I refused.. and might have brutally murdered one of them.

My thoughts we cut by another thump, this time a stronger one and it was latched on my back, between my wings.

"Get off me you ragged-!" I couldn't finish my sentence. There were five little hatchlings and the fifth one was climbing up my spine, digging her claws deeper into my skin every time.

I was turning and twisting, trying to get the little pests off me, but it didn't seem to work. One of them even had a rusty spear. The fifth one had climbed behind my head, her claws dug in the back of my neck. She must've said something to me, but because of the noise and I couldn't hear.

Suddenly, I felt jagged, razor sharp teeth dig into my neck. The pain was so intense, I wanted to scream until I'd fall.

At some point, I felt heat starting to rise from the little hatchling. Or the bite-wound was already starting to get infected. I saw scarlet light behing my head. What the hell is going on? Like an explosion - or that's what it was - happened. The hatchlings were thrown off and so was I. I fell on the ground, I felt blind. The pain on the bite was gone but around it felt like it was frozen but still on fire. Like a flaming frostbite. Well, if I don't die from this, those little peasants will be sent to the deepest bits of hell I know. That's for sure.

But I did die..
