A few months had passed and Y/n grew more comfortable with her new family. She began to open up a bit about what had happened. It wasn't much by any means but it was a step in the right direction. She got more comfortable with Grayson and his random bursts of energy and need for physical touch. His love language is touch so when Y/n began to trust him enough to allow him to hug and hold her, it meant the world to him.
He loved her like a little sister and wanted nothing more than to show it. He kept her from feeling lonely while Bruce rangled his busy schedule.
Y/n had been rescued approximately 5 months ago. Her life was beginning to turn around and her mind began to heal. She felt her broken heart mending and the weight on her shoulders began to lighten and fall off. She carried herself with more energy and began to feel good again.
Her world lightened up and her mental health strengthened and improved. She felt like she was in a good place again. She wasn't fully healed yet, that would still take much more time, but she could see the color returning to the world.
The deep exhaustion and sadness that she could feel in her chest was lightning and it felt like every breath was easier than the last.
The world wasn't gray anymore. It became beautiful like the sun had finally come out from behind the storm cloud.
She lay under the oak tree she'd met in September. It was five months ago that she'd discovered it. This tree has seen many of her tears and much of her hurt.
Now it begins to see her healing heart. She no longer sits in its presence to hide but to now relax and enjoy the warming air of late February as spring approaches.
She had started school, going to Gotham academy with Dick that fall. She hadn't made any friends yet, but she was determined to keep going. It wouldn't be long until Dick graduates and heads off to college, after all. She fears the feeling of being alone once he leaves.
Every time she thought of him leaving a lump would swell in her throat. He hadn't picked a school yet and she selfishly hoped it would be one in the city so he wouldn't have to move away.
She'd grown quite attached to him over the few months.
Y/n's thoughts came to a swirling stop when she turned the handles to the library. She walked right over to the comic books selecting one of the detective comics and sitting down on the couch. She spent a few minutes flipping through and just looking at the art before she began to read.
Time slowly passed and eventually Y/n finished the comic. She walked back over to the shelf to look for the next issue.
"Come on, come on, come on! You can't just leave it like that!" She exclaimed searching the shelf. The comic had ended on a cliffhanger, one of the wost Y/n had ever read.
"Bingo!" She happily shouted, finding the issue. She tugged on the comic pulling it out of the tightly squeezed space. Her pulling dislodged a few photo albums from the shelf above. They landed on the floor at her feet with a loud thud. Photos flew out all across the floor, earning and groan from Y/n.
"Great." She sighed throwing her head back in frustration. She sighed and bent done to pick them up. She turned them over in her hand, gazing at the people. One had a young Bruce holding an action figure he'd gotten for Christmas. Another was of Thomas with Bruce on his shoulders. Bruce was happily licking an ice cream cone. The third was of Dick playing a piano duet with Alfred. There were many others scattered on the floor but Y/n didn't look at them. Instead she was focused on one that seemed out of place. The picture was very odd especially in the context of being in one of Bruce's family photo albums.
Y/n furrowed her brows, picking the photo up off the floor. She readjusted from her knees to criss cross on the floor, completely stunned by the picture. It was a picture of Batman with a young Robin at his side and Batgirl on his other. They seemed to be celebrating something. Both kids had bright smiles on their faces and even Batman had a trace of a smile on his lips.
"Weird," Y/n thought, "Why does he have this?"
Y/n twirled her hair around her index finger as she followed a thought. She remembered how Grayson's presence seemed familiar, like she'd seen his shining smile before. It wasn't until she found this picture that she realized why.
"Robin." Y/n thought.
"That smile belonged to Robin!" She spoke aloud. She moved her knuckle to her lip, tapping it as she whispered, "could it be that Dick Grayson and the Teen Wonder are the same person?" Y/n chuckled a bit before furrowing her brow and realizing she now had the answer to another question. Why was Bruce there the day after she was found?
"It was too convenient that he just showed up. I guess it would make sense if Bruce was Batman. Not only is he rich enough to afford the equipment but he happened to be there just when I needed him."
The clock then chimed noon and Y/n tucked the picture back in the photo album, still focused on her thoughts as she headed to get her lunch.

"Uh... Y/n? Why are you looking at me like that?" Dick asked, scrunching up his nose.
Y/n slurped her spaghetti dinner aggressively, narrowing her eyes. Dick stuck his tongue out in response.
"You've been staring at me all day, which is not super unusual for me considering l'm gorgeous!" Dick lightly chuckled, fixing his hair.
Y/n stayed silent
"Jokes aside, why are you staring at me?" More silence. "This is weird and I don't mean Y/n weird I mean like weird."
Y/n sighed. "It's nothing I guess." She laid her head on the table in defeat. What was she thinking? How could he be Robin? Y/n dismissed the thought but it still lingered in the back of her mind.
Later that night, Y/n found herself unable to sleep, being kept awake by the lingering idea that Dick Grayson was Robin. Hours after everyone had gone to sleep, Y/n tiptoed out of bed, gently opening her doors. She peered out into the dark hallways before deciding it was safe to continue. She snuck through the mansion to the library, carefully and quietly closing the doors behind her.
She fished for the photo albums on the shelf, grabbing each and every one, and taking them over to the large table in the center of the room. She then dug through the filing cabinets for blank paper before sitting down at the table.
Y/n rubbed her heavy eyes as she flipped through every photo album. They all seemed normal. Nothing was amiss. Finally giving into her curiosity, Y/n grabbed her scrap notebook paper and a recent picture of Grayson. She sketched out his face, paying great attention to detail. She held it up in the light before drawing on the famous black mask that the Teen Wonder wears. It was perfect. Every detail lined up with recent pictures of Robin.
Y/n was right. He is Robin!
