10 YEARS LATER
"Come on Mia, blow out the candles!" Amy said holding the cake out in front of me I closed my eyes, 'I wish that I could have Laurie back' I thought to myself blowing out the candles. I'm 24 now, it's been 9 years since Amy and I moved to France together. I painted with her daily and helped around the house as needed. Amy got married to Mr. Vaughn and had 1 child named Emerly, who is now 4.
THE NEXT DAY
"Mia! Mia!" Emerly called coming into my room, "Hey Emmy, how did you sleep?" "Good, breakfast is ready!" She said giving me a big hug, I carried her down the steps to the kitchen. "Good morning Mia!" Fred said, "Mia, you got a letter from Jo." Amy said handing the letter to me. "What does it say?" Amy asked, "I wanted to wish you happy birthday so I wrote this card I hope it comes in time, love Jo." I responded as I sat down at the table for breakfast. We all started eating and there was a knock at the door "I'll get it!" Amy said rushing to the door, the door creaked open and I heard a man's voice coming from it.
AMY'S POV
I opened the door to see Laurie looking back at me, "Laurie what a surprise!" "Is Mia home?" He asked, "Yeah she just started eating dinner, would you like to join us?" "Sure that would be nice." He nodded his head and walked in setting his coat down on the chair. I started in the kitchen with Laurie following behind me Mia looked up at me, "Who was it?" Mia asked I smiled and looked over to Laurie who walked around the corner. "LAURIE!" Mia yelled jumping out of her chair. She ran over jumping into his arms.
LAURIE'S POV
I knocked on Amy's door I really hope that Mia is still here, the door opened. I was invited inside and I sat my coat down on the chair by the front door, I grabbed the present out of my coat pocket and put it in my pants. I followed Amy into the kitchen and walked past her to see Mia at the table, she looked so perfect. She got out of her chair and ran into my arms, I closed my eyes trying to savor the moment. I hugged her tightly, "Lu-lua-laurie." I heard a small voice say I opened my eyes to see a little girl I was soon informed that her name was Emerly.
