"It seems like there won't be any dinner for you today," my tutor says in an angry tone before shutting my door. After hearing my door lock, I flop on my bed and gaze at the view outside my window. The castle walls and a few patches of green plains is all I can see from my window. Overtime, I started getting bored of staring at the view over and over again, longing to see something different. Something new.
I go over to my study table and make my toys. I'm technically banned from making them after my tutor witnessed me accidentally blow up one of the castle's gardens with them but... I am gonna get bored anyway so I'm obviously gonna disobey her.
About 20 years ago, my parents had gotten me a tutor since they thought it was about time I learned etiquette but that wasn't my priority. After I finished making some toys, I hid them in a secret compartment in my closet and sat down on my dressing, waiting for two attendants to get me dressed.
They sashay into my room, try to show off something I do not notice which is really unnecessary. I notice how loud their makeup is which hurts my eyes incredibly. Their dresses' design looks like a child randomly splashed paint onto it and not in a good way. While setting makeup and brushes on my dressing table, one of the attendants looks at me like I'm some piece of trash.
"What a hopeless little girl you are. You must be waiting for your Prince Charming", she mocks and they both laugh like the mad women they are. I glare at them with a neutral look on my face. After reading a lot of books, I've learnt a few ways to talk back to someone when they are being rude and disgraceful beings. But I do wonder why I found those words in the storybooks though. I lock the thought away in my head, answering the little peasants afterwards.
"Oh! My apologies. I might be hopeless for some unknown reason but at least I'm not when it comes to my taste in fashion", I comment, looking them up and down.
The ladies flinch at my words, their mouths open in shock. It did have some effects but I honestly don't care if they work for the king but they're getting on my nerves.
"And if you'll excuse me," I say, pushing the girls outside my door gently. "I have better things to do than you wasting my time". I gave them a bright smile before slamming the door on their faces.
I always prefer to be alone. My parents' fault, not mine. After being locked up in a room for 200 years, I knew how to cope with loneliness. I use my dreams and imaginations to create toys that keep me company. I brush my white hair and look in the mirror. Compared to the dresses I see in books, my dress was something not even worth glancing in a fairytale.
I put on a plain blue dress and touch the writing on my wrist, rubbing it like the wordings will disappear. I have had this for as long as I can remember, but all I do know is that I wasn't born with it. I couldn't clean it off or make it disappear even though it's a simple text. But the that always come to mind why the text is the most random thing I've ever read, 'To see the world'. It's honestly something I've personally wanted for decades now but why is it written on my wrist?
I put the thought aside and read a book, waiting for a guard to escort me to dinner. Ever since I was a child, I've loved storybooks that had happy endings. Stories that explained things I couldn't experience myself. I've always wanted to be in storybooks but it would be impossible when I'm still stuck behind castle walls.
Around five minutes passes before a guard escorts me down for dinner. I sit at the royal table, my parents noticing my presence.
"How are you sweetie?" my mother says with a sweet smile on her face. My mom's wavy white hair glows brightly as it flows down her back. I had gotten my looks from her; most workers commenting on how I look similar to my mother... unlike our personalities.
