3rd person pov
Kai made eye Contact with Chad in a way that told him everything he needed to know and he didn't like it. Kai was annoyed with sam and she didn't like that sam had done that. she understood protection but in her opinion, she didn't need to do that since it seemed that chad had it handled or at least a part of it. now they were all walking behind sam and tara who were fighting
"tara, tara. can you stop?" sam called to her
"I cannot believe you did that. you embarrassed me!" tara exclaimed and kai looked at chad.
"that guy was an asshole he was gonna take advantage of you" sam said and tara spun
"so? I wanna hook up with an asshole that's my decision. It's my decision it's not about you! You're out of my life for five years, and then you can't leave me alone for five minutes" tara said and kai seethed. she knew that this wasn't the way to go about things
"because you're not dealing with what happened to us. Have you gone to see the counselor once?" sam asked
"no, I'm not going to" tara retorted
"why not?" sam pushed
"because I'm uninterested in living in the past like you are" tara finally said
"guys. come on" chad tried but kai shook her head and grabbed his hand
"whats that supposed to mean?" sam asked her
" it means I'm not gonna let what happened to us for three days to find the rest of my life" tara said
"alright guys chads right, lets not do this here" kai said as she finally noticed the people watching them and she hated it
"so just gonna pretend it never happened" sam said
"what are you doing here, sam? In New York. You're working too shitty job jobs to help pay, whatever, but what's your plan? I know what I'm gonna do. okay? Because I'm gonna keep going to college, I'm gonna get my degree I'm gonna live my life. my life. okay? i know. You just followed me here and you won't let me out of your sight" tara said and chad looked at kai
"don't even try to say it to me or I will leave you to deal with your shit" she whispered and he laughed softly as he nudged her. they were still them even in times like this
"I'm just trying to look out for you" sam told tara
"I know. I know you are. You can't do it for the rest of my life though. You have to let me go" tara said
"hey!' they heard before something was thrown at sam
"murderer!" the girl shouted and kai jumped forward as she punched the girl in the face and stole the others phone smashing it to the ground as she stared ar them and they stared at her in shock. kai was pissed at them, they didn't know the full story and they never would. People like that don't care to listen about what happens, they just read what's on the Internet and go off of that
"what the fuck is wrong with you, bitch?" sam called
"you guys should stay away from her. she knows what she did" she stated and kai laughed
"I didn't fucking do anything" sam said
"we were all there that night you dumb ass. You really think we're gonna care about some shit a random girl in New York City says. Go back to being a slutty bitch on the subway and see if we give a single fuck." kai stated and the others began to walk off
"I'm so sick of this shit" sam said
"hey, calm down, come on" mindy said and they all left
"hey, I have tissues, if you want tissues. i have like three tissues" he said and he handed her to them as she began to wipe herself down and kai stayed there with her.
"do you know you don't have to stay Kai you can go with them" sam told her and kai smiled as she took off her sweatshirt and handed it to sam. sam stared at it before she looked at kai
"take it the tissues aren't gonna do anything, you're gonna be fucking freezing by the time we get back to the apartment. Just take them and deal with it. When we get back to the apartment you can give it back to me and you can change. And I don't have to stay here. If I wanted to leave I would. But believe me when I say that I don't. And you know those girls are wrong, right?" she said and sam sighed
"can we not get into philosophical shit right now?" sam asked and kai laughed as she sat down and sam did too.
"I get it. the whole protecting Tara thing. I've been doing the same with Chad and Mindy and they act like they're not sick of it but I can tell they are. After everything that happened when Chad got attacked I kept blaming myself for not protecting him and from not stopping it. I know that you blame yourself and you act like this is your fault, but it's not Sam you have to know that." she said and sam sighed
"it's not that easy kai. I'm scared if I leave her alone for a second she's going to disappear and I can't do anything. I know that you understand and I get that but it doesn't make it easier." sam told her
"I know that doesn't make it easier and I'm not telling you this to lessen your feelings Sam I'm telling you this, so you know that someone else understands. I'm always here no matter what and whatever happens you have me. I'm always gonna understand no matter what." she told her and sam put on her sweatshirt as they began to walk to the apartment together
they now had an understanding and that was a good thing for them. it was going to continue to be a good thing.
