3rd person pov
As Kai sat in the hospital waiting for her brother to wake up, she thought about one thing. the idea of death didn't come from wanting to kill people but from the anger that spread like a virus.
she wondered if they were safe at home or if they knew that she brought chad here. that's why she decided to steal the gun she had hidden under her bed and stay with chad. she had cracked the code about the killers being amber and richie but what she didn't know was their plan.
she knew that amber wanted revenge but she didn't know what richie wanted and that's what got her thinking. she was brought into this not only because of her family but because shes a detective in training and she knew that she could crack the code.
the truth was, she didn't know it the whole time but she had a feeling. when she looked at amber, she saw the way amber looked at everyone and she knew that she had to be apart of it and she knew richie had to be apart of it with how much he didn't seem to care about tara or sam and how he really didn't give a fuck about anything else but himself.
"come on chad, I need you to be safe" she told him and she stared at her brother waiting for anything. she didn't know what was happening back at the house and she was worried about it.
she called mindy and she heard the girl answer her phone.
"you interrupted me" mindy stated and kai sighed
"mindy" she said and Mindy waited
"kai? whats wrong? are you okay?" mindy said and kai sighed as she shook her head but she knew that mindy couldn't see or hear her and she wished she could. she wished that the girl could see how in distress and scared she was.
"its chad, he got attacked. I'm with him at the hospital but its bad mindy. like bad and I don't know what to do. i have a feeling that I know who the killers are" she stated and Mindy sighed
"holy shit kai, who?" she asked
"amber and richie" she accused and Mindy seethed
"how do you know?" mindy asked
"I just thought about it, amber hates sam and she knew about sams background before sam even told any of us that billy is her dad so she already knew that and richie, he came out of nowhere, none of us know him personally but what we do know is that he's sams boyfriend and if we accused him, sam would defend him" she stated
"and you thought about all of this right now?" mindy questioned
"I mean not right now, but yeah. I'm stuck in a hospital room alone with chad and the doors locked. he's unconscious and the doctors only come in when I call for them but what I'm saying is you need to get out of there right now. I'm here so I cant save you while you're there. But what I can do is try to get you out of there, because whatever happens next is going to happen there and you could die. and Chad's already in the hospital and I promised mom that I would look after you do and if one of you die, she's gonna kill me and if two of you die, just gonna kill me, bring me back to life and kill me again" she exclaimed
"alright fine, ill leave but only cause I want to not because you said so" mindy said and kai sighed
"thank you, Mindy. I just want you to be safe and I can't do that when I'm here. And I can't protect anyone else when I'm here too." she said
"you're worried about sam still arent you?" she asked
"of course I am, you know that no matter what. i always worry about her. its just what I do" she said and Mindy sighed
"I know kai, maybe call her and check on her. see how shes doing, I know that you worry about her and you always will. just stay safe and make sure that chad is too. i cant lost you as much as you cant lose me. ill call you later" mindy said
"alright fine, I love you m" she stated
"I love you kai" she spoke and she ended her phone call. kai turned Chad with a sad look on her face wondering if her brother would wake up. The fear of him dying was more than she could ever imagine because she knew that she had to protect him and she failed. And she knew that Sam was thinking the same thing about Tara.
There a time in a siblings life, when you realize that your sibling means more to you than you mean to yourself. Kai didn't care if she died at this point because if she died, it would mean that she was taking care of her siblings while she did it. And yet here she is staring at her brother on a hospital bed wondering if he'll ever wake up.
That scared her more than anything. Sure there were two killers, running around, killing everyone she ever loved. But losing her siblings. She couldn't handle that. And she couldn't imagine anyone else ever having to go through that either.
She sat in the hospital room, staring at the ceiling, thinking about a plan, she realized one thing. Death is not a way of life. It is only a part of it. You can go through life wondering if you'll die one day. or you can live knowing that you will die but at least you lived.
kai had to stop this and she had to stop it now.
