It was always torturous to sit through Shadis' "school lessons" where he taught all the theoretical knowledge about titans to the the trainees.

Charlie and Shadis took turns on those lessons. Even though Charlie never actually went to military school, she had the knowledge of a retired sixty year old.

She read books. And she remembered all of the things she read in there.

Also, Hange. There was not a single day in those two months when she would return back to the survey corps where Hange wouldn't torment Charlie with Titan knowledge.

But either way, that was Shadis' part of the teaching. The dry, boring, old stuff.

He always talked through his lessons without pause, then ask questions about information he just mentioned. If you can't answer correctly...well that's not very good.

Charlie's lessons were a little different. She spoke with the trainees rather than having a monologue.

And her rating was based on how much thought the trainees put into their answers, not if there were particularly right or wrong.

All that put together with the daily training they had to endure under their two completely different but both scary  instructors, had one end result;

The trainees feared Shadis, and they respected Charlie, a lot.

Still didn't mean they weren't totally terrified of her as well.

Either way, right now it was almost time for Shadis to end his lesson about the stomachs of titans.

Charlie was only there because she was the next one to torture those poor kids.

Imagine going to school as a kid...hah!

Charlie had to huff lightly at the thought that others went to school while she stole violent men's money, sometimes getting beaten up.

"Is something about the melting human bodies inside the Titan's stomach funny to you, instructor?" Shadis asked loudly after catching her chuckle in the back of the class.

Charlie quickly snapped out of it, looking up. "...Well, it was certainly not funny to them." She answered with the straightest face there is.

Shadis blankly stared back at her.
