Ruby's partner was rather odd.
He woke far earlier than anyone else, stealing away the bathroom before the Sun even dared to rise before promptly vanishing for the rest of the morning until their first class.
Even while in the same room as him he appeared distant, sleeping through entire lessons with little care or repercussions from the staff. Even Glynda Goodwitch, the crowned queen of discipline, hardly batted an eye at his behavior.
'Why did he even bother coming here?' they whispered.
'Is he one of the teacher's kids or something?' they rumored like children.
A complete enigma to the rest of Beacon and his very own teammates.
Until it happened.
Bell was seen training the one and only Jaune Arc. A person the boy had openly mocked on several occasions, bluntly putting the 'weakling' in his place.
But a sudden interest in his fellow student sent those around him for a loop. Practically forcing them to rethink their opinion of the boy.
"Why are we out here again? I've got shit to do today." said boy droned, lazily sweeping his eyes across the endless streets before them.
If only his sudden generosity reflected onto his other traits.
He was thankfully fully dressed for their stroll through the city. Though the white t-shirt he wore left little to the imagination, hugging his figure like a long-lost lover.
"Well, if you must know," Weiss, the studious girl she was, had simplified Bell into a simple formula "Students from Vauco are arriving today to compete in the Vytal Festival Tournament, as students of Beacon welcoming them is a duty we should feel inclined to uphold." she practically spelled the word with how slowly she enunciated it.
Weiss watched with a hidden amusement as the boy's gaze gained a focus she had only seen within the midst of combat.
"Tournament? I thought this was just some party you schmucks threw every couple years."
"What!? People from all across the world gather to the chosen kingdom not just for the tournament, but to uphold the peace among the kingdoms! It's a cultural phenomenon renowned for its ability to bring us together!" just like that Weiss had lost Bell, his focus shifting over to the nearby stores.
"Wow Weiss, I've never seen you so passionate about something before. It's kinda unnerving." Ruby swept the heiress's attention away from Bell before things could escalate further.
"Why of course, such an expertly planned event is a modern marvel and should be appreciated as such." Weiss huffed before turning back towards the docks, which soon stole away everyone's interest after a series of shouts echoed down the harbor.
"Hey! Stop that Faunus!"
A golden blonde monkey tail waved at the crewmen as the stowaway gracefully dodged prying hands, leaping over heads and swinging onto the dock.
An ear-to-ear smile lit up his tanned face as he called out behind him "Thanks for the ride boys!"
He dodged through two policemen and clambered his way up into the street.
