Gwen sighed as she sat at a table in her favorite cafe, watching as the citizens walked through the city. It's been about a week since her encounter with the Red Hood and things have been rather peaceful since then, no word of him reaching anyone's ears and even crime seemed to be slowing down. She caught the occasional burglar and webbed him up, stopped a couple of bank robberies and the like before turning in for the night. Gwen Stacy rarely had herself six hours of sleep during the night, now she woke up more energized every day. But whenever that happened it usually meant something big was going to happen, the shit was going to get beaten out of her, but she'd pull through and save the day.She took another sip of her coffee before rubbing her arms with a shiver. Winter was approaching soon and Gwen needed to prepare herself for the cold nights when she's swinging around as Spider-Woman. Her phone began to buzz and Gwen didn't have to look too know who was calling. Bucky was rather insistent on checking up on her since they talked with Cletus. She respected the American hero but how many times would it take for him to take a hint? She was fine, perfectly fine and she just wanted to get on with life. No friends except for her dad who she even kept at arms length. Cletus couldn't hurt her like that again if she had no one close. She sighed as she opened her notebook and tried looking over her notes on Kingpin.
Believe it or not, Kingpin actually had a son. Well, an adopted son that made it his duty to mock Gwen whenever he had the chance. A young man who's name was Matt Murdock, apprentice and soon successor of Wilson Fisk should the man meet an untimely demise. What was interesting about Murdock was his blindness but also how every sense he had was enhanced tenfold. So enhanced he could actually dodge Gwen's attacks and tell where she was just based off instinct. It was like fighting a much more ruder, weaker version of herself in terms of strength. What baffled her more is that Murdock tried convincing her to join the mafia, saying she'd be one of his top lieutenants should he take power. Gwen didn't buy it, not a huge fan of the "Rule of Two" they had going on. She wasn't going to be a pawn of evil. The young Stacy sighed to herself once more, Murdock's attempts to get her too join the mafia increased significantly seven years ago when she started to get more serious and less childish.
"FOLKS I SAID IT BEFORE AND I'LL SAY IT AGAIN: SPIDER-WOMAN IS A MENACE!"
'Oh fuck me.....' Gwen closed her notebook and looked up at the Jumbotron overlooking the area. Jameson's face filled the screen, his Omni-Man looking ass glaring at the camera as if you just shot his dog and crippled his son. She was prepared for the usual update about how much she's a menace to society even after she's saved the man before. The man's been a thorn in her side since the beginning of her career, her number one critic and dare she say: Fan? But with how much he goes on about how terrible spider-woman is, Gwen is convinced Jameson has a hate boner for her. 'Disgusting to think of, but hilarious to imagine.'
"BUT NOW I FEAR THE WORD 'MENACE' IS TOO GOOD FOR THAT WALLCRAWLER!"
Gwen put her notebook back in her bag and pulled out a twenty, putting in on the check. The waiter could keep the tip, he always made good coffee in the morning. His daughter also needed more money for a cancer surgery so she did her best to leave what she could afford. She picked up her bag and turned around, ready to walk away.
"MURDERER IS A MORE FITTING TERM FOR THE INSECT!!!!!"
Gwen stopped and turned around, eyebrow raised as many onlookers turned to the Jumbotron, equally confused as Gwen. Jameson, as though waiting for dramatic effect paused before images of what looked to be the north side harbor in New York appeared on the screen. Police tape was everywhere and cops had poured into the scene, other news reporters lined around the tape and tried questioning the cops keeping them from getting a look at the scene. But glimpses of body bags being taken from the scene could be shown on the camera. In looked as if the entire NYPD had arrived to clean up the mess. In the far back, bodies laid on the ground yet to be recovered as blood mixed with the wet concrete. Was Jameson actually trying to blame her for this?! On the camera she could see a daily bugle reporter speaking to her father, who looked tired and worn down.
