A not totally bad person

Charlie's POV

I was sitting in a chair next to Leo. I had already been told off by the nurses three times for being out of bed but I didn't want to leave Leo. Leo was laying in the bed after his operation, he just hadn't been able to lift anything. In fact he was very nervous so the only people he would let touch him were me and Dad.

A nurse then walked in with our father.

Samuel" Hey son"

Dr Hovey" Leo, I'm Dr. Hovey. How are you feeling?"

Leo"Like I got h*t by a ton of rocks"

I chuckle, Leo was always good at making light on really bad situations

Samuel" Glad you didn't lose your sense of humour son"

Dr Hovey" Just gonna check some vitals, okay?"

She pushes a finger on his arm also feeling his pulse.

Dr Hovey" Can you feel that?"

Leo" Sorta"

Dr Hovey" What do you mean, "sorta"?

Leo" It feels kinda numb"

The nurse then decides to inject Leo distracting him with conversation.

Dr Hovey" Nice view you have outside your window"

Leo" Oh, I guess"

Yeah I thought. It's brilliant.

Dr Hovey" What do you see over there?

Leo" Just a lot of car park, really"

I place my hand on his shoulder.

Dr Hovey" Can you make a fist for me?"

Nothing happens but I can see Leo trying. I squeeze his shoulder and we exchange small smiles.

Leo" Uh, I can't, Why can't I?"

Samuel" Why can't he, is he going to be okay, is my son going to be okay?"

Dr Hovey" Some paralysis can occur after what he went through"

Samuel" But it's temporary, right?"

Dr Hovey" I hope so"

Samuel" Hope"?

Dr Hovey" Look Mr Cruz your son, daughter and Hayley are the only ones to recover from this virus. A virus that's technically not of this earth. We don't know what the lasting effects can be"

Charlie" But Hayley and I are okay, right? So my twin will be, too?

Dr Hovey" Well, you and Hayley were not as sick as Leo is right now, I can't make any promises, except we're going to do everything we can to help you"

Leo" Help me"? So you're saying this...This could be forever?"

Dr Hovey" I just don't know. We'll just have to wait and see, okay?"

Later on I still sat with Leo trying to comfort him after what Dr Hovey"

Charlie" Look they have to find a cure right, I mean these doctors are experts"

Leo" Not with my case clearly"

Dad leans the other side of Leo.

Samuel" Listen son, I'm never going to give up on you, I will do  whatever it takes to get you better"

Leo" Thanks Dad"

After dad has convinced me to leave Leo we head to the canteen and sit down with a hot chocolate. I hold it in my hands, the warmth spreading through my fingertips. I suddenly burst into tears and dad shifts his chair towards me.
