Aster had always wondered what the place beyond the confines of this place would look like. Apart from the place that looks like some sort of voodoo practice, the other exit was heavily enforced. There were mighty infantry stationed there, and peeking past the hole gave him a view of what looks like a crammed iron cage full of buildings, barely lit and covered with smoke. Some say the air there is literally uninhabitable, and they would be right. Intel to Aster said the people who "live" there are called Cage Dwellers. The fact that the "confinement outskirts" looked so much like a cage still does not make sense to him.
It is Aster's second week here, and already has information surpassing those with the same access level as him. And yet, there is still one question on his mind: What is beyond the walls seemingly separating societies? He decided he is going to explore it on his own, and finally see who the Cage Dwellers are.
Upon hearing this news, Aaron and Mr Smithe doesn't seem to optimistic. They warned Aster of toxic fumes, evil spirits and human traffickers. Aster felt like it's no big deal, after all, he is responsible for controlling literal gods, colossal deities and indestructible lizards that want nothing but violence. After a deep breath and wearing a gas mask for extra safety, he stepped into the cage. It was so dark, in fact, that Aster and even with his thousand-lumen flashlight cannot see what truly lurks in this hell of a place.
Even though the sand is still the same, literally everything else was different: The buildings, the atmosphere, the brightness...even to the subtle details like what businesses reside in this Cage is drastically different. Technology, as far as his eyes allow himself to see, is not nearly as advanced as the S.C.P. as he knows it. Sanitisation seems desolate and irrelevant, drinking water only supplied through rusted pipes and fresh air is clearly not a thing—Almost all of the Cage Dwellers have either oxygen tanks (Type1-CD, for the poor) or a makeshift gas mask (for those who can afford it).
It's safe to say Aster was mildly disturbed by the scenes, but he continued to march deeper and darker into the endless void filled with corpses, faeces, human organs and blood, in which he discovers is oozing from a child with a limb detached and is mutated with a third, evil eye. The child looks to be 6 years of age, and they do not have an oxygen supply. The parents may be long gone, so Aster decided to carry this child back to the Confinement Borders. Aster was a very good-hearted person, and so was everyone, but many of them back in the Stronghold didn't like the Cage Dwellers, and prevents any gore from entering their prestigious land. This, however, was rapidly changing.
Aster was not warned of any laws that prevent Cage Dwellers from entering the Stronghold, so of course, he picked the child up and ran. As fast and no doubt insanely powerful as he is, the Guards wouldn't let him into the Stronghold. 'Please!' He yelled, the earth shaking in response, 'They need desperate help! At least...' Aster looked down. The child was still alive. Very alive. 'This one's still alive! C'mon! The least you can do as a good person is to help them! You know you want to.' The guards reluctantly let Aster and the child in. Now that nothing is in the way, Aster quite literally flung himself into the hospital, and the child seems to speak. 'Th-thanks...' the child was out of breath, 'that was one hell of a place...thank you stranger...' Aster nodded, and the doctors healed the child.
Side Story—Unnecessary to main story
"It's been a while, [DATA EXPUNGED]. Hasn't it?" "It's sure been, Aaron. It's sure been." "Speaking of which, what is that thing anyway?" "Oh that? Started appearing 2 days after I got frickin' thrown into the Cage. The limbs' not that happy to have more company." "Why on earth would they want to call you [DATA EXPUNGED] anyway?" "I guess we'll have to see, Aaron."
