THIRD PERSON POV
Aelfric's stay was extended until Belinda was able to walk again. The invalid found it funny to see the elven prince and her uncoordinated father running around completing chores. Marcus was able to finish his chores easily, as he'd done them since he bought the small cottage, however, both he and Aelfric found it hard to complete many of Belinda's chores. The mending was soon given back to Belinda once she could sit up — although she did need some help and elvish painkillers.
Once Belinda was back on her feet and able to complete her chores, she and her father bade farewell to Aelfric once again. He promised to visit occasionally, as he'd grown close to the daughter/father duo. Then life returned to normal, however, Belinda and her father never forgot the man who practically saved Belinda's life twice already.
Belinda seemed different to Marcus after interacting with someone around her age for the first time in a long while. Her old playmates from the village had all moved away — for both adventure and love. Belinda had yet to find any pull outward from the village. This led her father to sometimes think she was lonely, however, it only occurred to him that she may be resisting the further world for Marcus. He was getting on in years, having seen around 50 birth moons.
Most humans had no money for a party such as the ones the elvish population would hold for birthdays. They instead would hold a celebration every birth moon — the first moon of the new year — hence the name birth moon. Belinda had yet to see her 20th birth moon, however, Marcus knew the time wouldn't stand still. He would see a few men in the village looking at his daughter, yet it never occurred that she may find love one day.
Marcus was contemplating how he would react if Belinda did find love one day one night. It was inevitable. He peered out of his dark bedroom into the night, where the full moon, accompanied by the stars, was shining upon the earth. The quiet rush of the nearby stream mixed with the hum of insects and the rustle of leaves in the night. His eyes started to flutter closed.
A hand shoved a hopefully clean handkerchief in his mouth as a sack was dropped over his head, blocking out all remainder of light. He grunted as one of his abductors stopped his struggling with a sharp punch to the side of his head. All he could hope was that Belinda could find him before it was too late.
