The Reunion

Today is the big day: I have my blind audition for The Voice. I have to admit I'm feeling a little stressed about seeing some of the coaches again, especially Niall. My mom and my son are here with me today. I have my blind audition in twenty minutes, and I'm really nervous. I'm singing "Miss Independent" by Kelly Clarkson, a song we loved to sing on tour. She even let me sing it alone during a show once.My mother is trying to calm me down, but it's not working. My son is sleeping, so I have to wake him up if he wants to see me sing. I wake him up and give him a hug, and it helps to calm me down. Carson is here to tell me it's time for my audition. I walk towards the stage and I can see the audience smiling at me. I close my eyes, take a deep breath, open them, and start singing. Right at the start, I hear a buzzer and someone turning around. I see it's not just one coach, but two: it's Blake and Chance. Chance is actually a friend of mine. I met him when I was helping Justin Bieber on his album, "Journal." I'm at the end of the song, and Kelly and Niall haven't turned yet. As I hit the last four notes, they turn around. Kelly sees me, gives me a big hug, and starts screaming. Niall sees me and is taken aback. And Chance is smiling at me. He didn't know I was coming, and he knows the whole story with Niall, my son, and his "father." My son considers him to be his uncle.Blake: So, what's your name and where are you from?I'm Sofia Anderson. I'm 29 and originally from Mullingar, Ireland.I can hear my son screaming, so I turn to face him and tell him to come to me. He runs to me, and I give him a hug. Then he sees his uncle Chance and runs to him. I turned to face Kelly, who seemed surprised.Blake: First of all, congratulations! You have a gift. I bet you've been singing for a while now with this amazing voice of yours.

Me: Yes, I've been singing since I was a kid and professionally since I was 15, when I was a background singer for the amazing Kelly Clarkson. At the 10 first notes I can hear a buzzer and someone turning and i can see that it is not one but two coaches who happen to be Blake and Chance who is a friend of mine that i met while i was helping Justin bieber on his album "Journal". I'm at the end of the song and Kelly and Niall didn't turn yet. As I hit the four last note they turn. Kelly sees me, scream and gets up to hug me. Niall sees me and is shoked and froze. And Chance is smiling at me, he didn't know i was coming and he knows the whole story with Niall, my son and his "father". And my son consider him as his uncle.

Blake- So, what's your name and where'd you come from ?

Me - I'm Sofia Anderson, i'm 29 and from Mullingar Irland.

I can hear my son screaming so I turn in his direction and tell him to come to me. He runs to me, i hug him and than he sees his uncle Chance and run to him. I turn to face Kelly who was shocked.

Blake- First of all congratulation and you have a gift. I imagine you've been singing for a long time with this amazing voice of yours ?

Me - Yes, i sing since I was a kid and profesionelly since i was 15 by being a background singer to the Amazing Kelly Clarkson. But I also helped John Legend write" Conversation in the dark" and "Nervous" I also served as his background singer and assisted Chance and Justin Bieber with one of their songs.

Blake: So you know two people here, and that doesn't help me in having you on my team.I just smile, and it's Kelly's turn to speak. I can tell she's barely crying, but she's trying not to show it.Kelly: I think your voice is great, and you really bring this song to life. When we were on tour, I told you that you sing this song better than me, and I stand by that. You have an amazing voice, and I can see you've got a great future ahead of you. What's his name?Me: Thanks, Kelly. It means a lot to me. His name is James or Jamie, after my childhood best friend. He really enjoys having his uncle Chance around.Chance: Anderson, I want you to know that I love you and I love what you do. I'm excited for you to be back on stage after taking three years for Jamie. I know you've got an amazing voice, but you don't show it to the world as much as you could. I also know you write amazingly. I think Kelly and Niall know it too. I'd love to have you on my team so that we can show the world your words.Bennett, thanks for the suggestion, but next time, think twice before saying something. Niall,Niall: Hi, Sofia Anderson! It's been a while! Sofia here is my childhood best friend. We grew up together and started music together. I haven't heard you sing for a long time, and you're still killing it. I'm proud of you!Kelly: Wait a minute. If Niall is your childhood best friend, it means your son is named after him.Me: Yeah, so if I'm not mistaken, it's time for me to decide who I'm going with. I'm going to go with the one who has always been there for me, who is a mentor to me, and who is an amazing singer. I'm going with Kelly.Kelly starts screaming and gets up from her chair, then turns to Blake and starts teasing him. She came over to me and gave me another hug, and now she was crying. Chance is behind her with James in his arms, and he comes closer to me to hug me. He tells me that he was really happy to see me, he gives me James back before Niall gets up and practically runs to us and gives me a hug. I was a little taken aback, but I gave him a hug in return. They walked me out. As they saw my mother, Chance ran to her and gave her a hug. I told him about the final stage, and the two of them became really good friends. He was especially emotional because he thought he was never going to see her again because of the filming. He wanted to cancel it, but my mother convinced him to go ahead with it.When Kelly saw my mother, she started to cry. She was in a wheelchair with no hair, which made her realize my mother had cancer. They hugged and started to talk as I turned to Niall, who was crying.
